MY time to *MOAN*

Post by barbaranoela »

My GP forgot to write DAW on my Pravachol, for cholesterol, so Merck send me the Generic---I called up and discussed the *fillers* and my sensitivity, due to MC, but was assured that the generic WOULD NOT CAUSE ME ANY PROBLEMS

So this morning I took the generic and 2 hours after---the big Xplosion--total running-rapids not leaving the *throne*---tummy distended--

I also spoke with GP and he didnt think it would bother me---and he knows we cannot change anything but I chanced it--

Now I am  with my favorite GP----but I still luve him---mistakes all around---but I should have said NO-WAY!!!!!!

:poopbanana: 'ing Barbara

There was study in a VA hospital with prilosec... the patients developed MC.. but when the prilosec was removed.. the symptons disappeared. HOW can anyone say that the generics will cause no problem.. when a brand name can cause problems!!! Once the copyright is outdated.. former brand names become cheap substitutes.... geeze...

Hope you can get your medicine changed. Merk sent my husband Nexium instead of prevacid for the same reason... took awhile but we did get it changed back to prevacid... Merk told us to just throw out the nexium.. they didn't even want it back...

Granny----I called GP IMMEDIATELY and am getting another prescription NOW~~~~~

And, of course the generics have to contain different fillers----- :banned:

When I was in AZ---on their own chocie, a different version of Verapamil--was sent me----well did I have a fight with them ---

The pharmacist @ Merck said---same thing--just take 3 a day???HUH!!!

Sooooooooo---I told them---fine U will call my doctor and straighten this out---and it was----Merck substituted on their own!!!! If U dont think this made me rip-roaring mad----

apologies were made but thats not the way the cookie crumbles--

Our prescription plan now states that generics can be replaced without asking the doctor. It is up to the doctor to fill in the box to dispense as written...

The next problem was when we had a prescription specifically for prevacid... Merk called the doctor's office and asked if they could change it to generic.. whoever answered the phone authorized the change to generic... once again we had to go through a mess to get the prescription fixed..

Unfortunately, Barbara, it seems the drug companies are running the medical profession. I have had a few of those changes myself and had to fight, along with my doc, to stay on the right meds. Love, Carol

That's Awful

Post by Momster »

Too bad we have to pay with our health because the drug companies are trying to rule things.
I hope you get your proper medication soon and things settle down.

That happened to my Mom once. She got shingles and the pharmacist substituted generic for the other medication and it got worse. The shingles spread up her neck, face, ear, chest and shoulder blade before the Dr. made them give her the right medication. She suffered for a long time and never really got rid of the residual skin irritation, which was aggravated by heat or stress.
About four year ago, I got a very mild case of it on my back and because of what had happened to Mom, I got it diagnosed, the proper medication, which I made sure of and it went away within weeks.
I think if a pharmacist is going to substitute the patient should be advised and given the choice. In Mom's case, if we'd know, the family could have gotten together and made sure she had what she needed, even if it wasn't covered by her medical plan, but in fact it was covered and so that made me even madder.

Have a nice rest, Barbara and feel better soon.

It's the INSURANCE COMPANIES that are running health care today.

Ticks me off to no end...............

That part about them calling the Dr.'s office to request a different med has happened to my husband also. Several years ago even.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Been there, done that - I HATE it when the insurance companies think they know more than the doctor!!!!!! Well, I guess in some cases, they might! Not in this one though.

Take care Barb - I read the other post and am glad that things are getting straightened out.

Love to you,
Mars

My motto is: Be Your Own Best Advocate! I no longer put all my faith in Dr.'s. I was told to suffer with an icepack for the last few days of withdrawal for my migraines......I did a little research before my appointment about DHE and asked my Dr. about it and WAH LAH! I was given a 3 day supply! I haven't had a migraine since!....

tomorrow will be my 1st day off all med.s ....I am trying not to panic.

Barbara, I hope the D. has settled down......

Love,
Mo
