hey i've updated my profile with a picture, my location. but i can't add my intolerances -- every time i add and save them, they are forgotten. IE reports that there is a script error on the page when I try to enter my intolerances -- is there some validation script for this field which is misfiring, or do I need to enter my intolerances in some certain format?
thanks
cristi (well actually it is john, cristi's husband, helping her out with computer stuff...)
can't add my intolerances?

Whoa! Somehow I overlooked this topic. I apologize for that.
You should be able to enter the information in ordinary text. Probably, though, certain punctuation marks, and symbols such as slashes, backslashes, dashes, etc., may not work with certain browsers, as they may be interpreted as innapropriate imbedded commands. Commas and periods, though, should certainly be allowed.
Looking at the php code, I don't see anything that would prevent anyone from entering any kind of text desired in that field. Browsers can override this, though, if they interpret a symbol, (or set of symbols), as an imbedded command line.
For some reason or other, recent version upgrades in the php code have caused some people to have problems with IE, that didn't exist previously. For example, Liz couldn't see a hidden forum, even though she had permission, until she started using Firefox, rather than IE.
I think the problem may be that as php code becomes more and more secure, MS is also making IE more secure, (since it is a favorite target of hackers), and sometimes innocent features get caught in the cross-fire.
I had the same problem entering that information in my own profile a few months back, and I tracked it down to the use of a symbol, but now I can't recall what it was. I'm thinking that it was a slash (/), but I'm not sure.
If it continues to deter your best efforts, email or pm whatever you want to add, to me, and I'll try adding it by way of the admin panel.
Sorry for the problem.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
