Dealing with anxiety

Post by mle_ii »

Though I'm not yet done with dealing with it, at least I believe I'm on the right path. Which is a huge step forward for me.

One book that has given me this hope is called "Transforming Anxiety Transcending Shame" by Rex Briggs. I'd recommend this book to anyone dealing with anxiety issues, living with someone with anxiety issues, heck to anyone really. There's a lot of great stuff in there that I didn't realize. And what blew me away was how much I felt that the book was written for me and about me.

Once I figured out the dietary issues that were giving me GI issues, I knew that what I had left was my anxiety. I'm seeing how this anxiety affects my GI and makes me more sensitive to what's going on with my body. How I learned to deal with things isn't working with me it's giving me anxiety. Holding stuff in, not being able to deal with conflict, talking down to myself in my head. I learned these things and I need to unlearn them. I need to deal with this in a more healthy way.

At least now I know that I will get better, and the direction to take.

I hope this helps someone else out there living in pain.

Thanks,
Mike

You CAN overcome that and I believe you will if you keep working on it.

I may have to get that book and read it. Thanks for sharing. I hope you do conquer this and I think you will. It's those who won't try to help themselves that get no where. You're on the right track.

Yep, and unfortuneatly for us it's a vicious cycle, we have a disease that gives us GI issues, so we stress, we stress and get GI issues. Ugg! I'm breaking free of this cycle as it sucks!
