Back to beach again

Post by Polly »

Whew! I think these little vacation trips are much more work than one big one. All I seem to be doing is packing, unpacking, and doing laundry......with the same clothes over and over.

Yesterday I hosted a baby shower/brunch for my best friend's daughter at a local restaurant. Lots of fun. Except for about 5 hours later when I had an attack of violent D with nausea. I have no idea what caused it - just the usual case of not being able to eat out safely I guess. Fortunately, it lasted only about an hour. But it was that old battery acid D that I haven't had in years. YUCK!

Now back to the beach until Thurs. night. MIL wants me to weed her gardens - in 100 degree heat! That should be fun - NOT. I am still hoping that it will be cooler at the ocean.

Although I haven't had much time to post this month, I am lurking and trying to keep up with all of the news. Stay cool everyone!

Love,

Polly

Dear Polly,

What exactly did you eat? I'm curious, because you have your symptoms SO under control . . .

Polly,

When you get to you MIL's garden, pull out the biggest, prettiest plant and she won't ask you again, LOL.

Have you noticed that just being away from home makes you sick? I was at my almost MIL's lake house for 3 days and came home feeling yucky. She is very careful about my diet and so am I, but something always seems to happen. Like I found out she sprays her grill with Pam. I hate feeling like I can't get away, and I'll still do it, but I hate getting sick too.

Have fun at the beach and I hope it cools off some.

Love, Jean

You can always blame the heat if you get into trouble for pulling the plants out  Say you have gone 'Troppo' like they do up north here in Australia.

 Jean's advice it good but if you don't want to do that..........Just tell her you'd never expect ANYONE to work outside in such heat and humidity. She should get the point. (and I wouldn't do it if I were you).

You can always add "doctor's orders" to Shirley's suggestion! LOL

I hope you are able to enjoy some beach time!

Polly,

I found out not long ago that I also have ancestors who came from Maryland. Don't ask me where, though.

Have fun, er ah, pruning!
Yours, Luce

HAHAHAHAHA! Thanks for the tips, folks! I spent 3 hours weeding on a very hot day - but it was about 90 and not 100 degrees. Then I spent an hour watering. Wish I had seen your idea about pulling up the prettiest plant, Jean!

It was NOT a fun trip. MIL was very demanding and drank a little too much at "cocktail time", which always gives her a very sharp and annoying "edge". She's the most negative and critical person I've ever known. I couldn't wait to get out of there. I got to the beach for 3 hours on one day. But I also got to ride a friend's horse - she lives across the street from MIL and boards her 2 horses on a farm a few miles away. THAT was really FUN. On that same day Derek and Scott went fishing offshore and caught 18 sea bass. So it's grilled fish tonite!

Love,

Polly

P.S. Luce, what were your ancestors' names?

Glad you're home safe and sound. It sounds like the trip was pretty balanced, the bad and the good. Glad you got to go riding and Scott got to fish. Hope you're enjoying your dinner!

Did you know 3 of the 4 osprey chicks at Blackwater NWR have fledged? The 4th (youngest) should leave the nest soon. 4 is a LOT of chicks for ospreys to raise. Usually they have 2, occasionally 3. The fledged birds still come back to the nest sometimes. http://www.friendsofblackwater.org/camhtm.html

Oh Kathy,

I am such a fan of that webcam! Isn't it fantastic? We must be kindred souls.
