Tubing sounds like so much fun! When I was a kid we were poor, but I didn`t know it then. My dad always worked and my mom always cooked good, nutritional meals. She made all our clothes, including coats, and I felt poor then. Now I consider them custom made.
I sort of got off the subject, but not having many toys, my 2 sisters and I used to swing on grapevines, catch tadpoles, sweep out a litle area in the woods and build houses with just stones and twigs. Did a lot of rock skipping and watching cloud formations, too. Kids these days hardly get out of the house, due to all the electronics, etc.
Berry picking was always a favorite of mine, as well. Love, Carol

I dunno, I'd like to think after 2 years of GF that I'm smart enough to know how to avoid it Tex! Kidding aside, I guess it's possible-cross contamination with steak and eggs? I didn't bother to ask about what griddles they use for what but perhaps it could be a reaction to trace amounts.tex wrote: Hmmmmmmmm. It sure sounds like you might have accidentally eaten some gluten when you were eating out.
I suspected it was the raw carbs/fruits and vegies I was eating, and I ate alot...nothing like fresh MN sweet corn or tomatoes!
Also, I was drinking crystal light lemondades and processed teas out of bottles- this is stuff I never, ever drink. Do you think this would have been enough to upset the apple cart?

Joanna

Without prior arrangements, those griddles almost surely contaned crumbs from things like pancakes in the mornings, and buns, the rest of the day. They may have even been grilling them at the same time. Frankly, I would be surprised if they didn't contain some gluten.
Lemonade will do it to me, (citric acid), and the ingredient lists for bottled teas are way too long for comfort, though you may be able to tolerate them, unless you're intolerant of corn or some of the preservatives.

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Ohhh- tubing sounds refreshingly cool!! I've been once in Arizona in July with a guy I met on the airplane - hot but fun! We are having record-breaking heat here - it has been over 110 for 4 days in a row!! Saturday was the worst @ 117!!! It is expected to cool over the next few days - thank goodness - I don't do extreme heat very well...sometimes my tummy acts up, too Sally! And our A/C is on the fritz - it's awful darned miserable!!
Immodium is my security blanket when I travel or do something outside my comfort zone (restroom-access-wise!) I just tuck one in my pocket - I've never used it, but feel much calmer knowing it is there I had no problems in Yellowstone whatsoever, but carried it in my shorts pocket for peace of mind...
Joanna - I tend to have trouble in MN, as well! I'm convinced it has to do with the water - it has a different taste there - sort of "lake-ish" hard to explain, but I am convinced that is a big contributor!! Crystal Light would also make me run! It's the artificial sweeteners that don't agree with my gut....hot weather bugs me sometimes - I think because I drink much more fruit juice than normal to stay hydrated...Hope you are "back to norman" soon!!

Polly-
I miss Maryland and tubing in the rivers. I also went tubing in Blacksbug VA (i forget the river name). However I dont miss the heat in Maryland.
I do not do well in the heat at all especially when I take my promethazine for nausea because you arent supposed to expose yourself to heat and direct sun for long.
I moved to Flagstaff AZ (in the mountains to usually the hotest it gets in the summer is mid 80's but we have been having a heat wave recently.
I dont think I will go anywhere without putting an imodium in my pocket for as long as I live. I had such a miserable time last year and worrying about it made it much worse. I still worry about getting sick again when I quit smoking and not being able to work etc.
I get the worrying and stressful mind type from my mom for sure. She stressed so much she got an ulcer and now takes Paxil on a daily basis (I take ativan- no more than 1.5 mgs per day and it does help).
