So how many have this? I wondered what exactly it was called.

Mike,
Do you want us to vote based on current conditions, or conditions when we were actively reacting. IOW, some of us had the problem before we healed, but no longer have it, as long as we are in remission. (Of course, maybe I'm the only one in that catagory, for all I know).

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
At any time. I currently suffer from this but occasionally get your standard diarhea as well.tex wrote:Mike,

Mike,
MY GOSH I have this. I don't *constantly* feel like I have to have a BM, but almost! My legs hurt/cramp up, like they would if I were holding it a really long time, and otherwise, I get cramping/contractions in my colon and bowels as if I have to go but I only go about once a day now. I'm pretty much in remission but have occassional D, but yeah... I still feel like that on a daily basis. I'm just used to it now.

Ugg, sorry to hear that this is a daily thing for you. For me this only happens every once in a while, and seems to be the symtoms I mostly get when I feel ill. Sometimes it's diarhea, but mostly it's like this with soft unformed stools. It used to be D a lot more with this than it is now.TendrTummy wrote:Mike,

I get a very sharp pain that feels like it's about 3 inches below my belly button. The pain is very sharp and intense, like someone's taking a knife and stabbing it into that area and moving it around. Sometimes it's so painful I feel like I'm going to pass out. Luckily it's not as often as it used to be, but I still get it every once in a while.
The most prevelant part of it is the feeling like I have to go, going, not much coming out and feeling like I have to go again, and again, and again, for hours. Ugg.
So something is causing an inflamation of the rectum and lower part of the colon I'm guessing. What I'm not sure. From what I've read stress can agrivate it, but doesn't cause it. So it's gotta be something I eat or something I'm not absorbing or who knows that's causing it.
Mike
MIke,
Regarding the pain you describe, I have to agree, that back when I was still reacting frequently, I would have waves of pain like that overtake me occasionally, (usually accompanied by severe rumbling and/or gurgling sounds), and if I happened to be walking at the time, they would not only cause me to double over, but once in a while, they would cause me to sink to my knees. As you say, the pain would be almost umbearable, and just about the time that I would think that I couldn't stand it if it got any worse, it would begin to diminish, and in a minute or two, I would be ok.
If that's the sort of thing you are experiencing, I would have to say that you are still having full-blown reactions. I agree, it sure sounds like you are reacting to something in your diet.
