Hi All,
About 9 or 10 months ago, I had added a feature to the board that would allow us to set up a topic where members could register for an event, and the system would automatically keep track of a list of who was registered, and also keep a running head count. Along about the end of last year, a couple of upgrades for the operating code for the board were issued, and after I installed those upgrades, the event registration feature would no longer work correctly, due to changes in the way the board operated.
I tried to find a way to make it work, in February, but was unsuccessful, so I gave up on it, since I had other things to do. A few months ago, a new version of the event registration modification was issued, so a couple of weeks ago, I uninstalled the old code, and installed the new version, but it still refused to perform, due to a conflict with another modification that I had made in the meantime, which allows us to save posts as drafts, so that we can finish them later. (This is known as a heavily modded board, since I've made over 50 modifications and additions, that do not come with the original, plain vanila version of the board, and the more modifications that are already in place, the more difficult it is to add other features, without having problems with conflicts).
I've been trying to resolve the problem ever since, and last night, the light bulb finally came on, and I realized what I needed to do to resolve the problem. After making changes to four files this morning, I was successful in getting the event registration feature to work correctly. Hoorah! I'm glad that's finally resolved. I hate it when something doesn't work correctly.
Okay, so here's how it works: I moved Sally's post about her upcoming WCPPG from the forum where she originally posted it, to this forum, and activated the registration feature, so that if you are interested in attending, you can register for the gathering, and update your status, as needed, just by clicking on the appropriate registration box. Once you are sure that you will be attending, you can confirm your status, by clicking on the "(Confirmation)" link in the registration box. Note that there is also an "Unregister" box, which will unregister you, if you click on it, (IOW, your name will be removed form the list, and the total count will be reduced by one).
Sally, you should be able to edit the wording in the registration boxes, if you want, (or you can deactivate the registration feature completely, by deselecting the "Activate" box). You can also limit the number of registrants, if you wish, by entering the numbers you want to set as limits, into the appropriate "Slots" boxes. If you click on the "Reset" box, and submit the change, all the existing registrations will be cleared, and everyone will have to re-register. You can also enter a day limit after which registrations can no longer be entered, if you wish. If you want to make any changes, and the system won't let you, please let me know.
This is a handy feature to have, for keeping track of events of this type, and I hope you find it useful. If anyone has any questions, or comments, please don't hesitate to bring them up.
Thanks.
Tex

This is super-COOL!!! I just found it and I think I was looking at it while you were moving it around. Wayne, thank you so much!!! This is going to make it SO much easier for me to keep a head count.
Neat, huh, Peg???
Thanks so much again for taking care of us so well. We must have the best Message Board on the Web.
Lots of love,
