MIL update
Queridos amigos, Dear friends,
After having stayed a night and two days with MIL, we finally got the results of the tests carried out at a private meeting with the specialist.
Unfortunately, I have to tell you that I have no good news.
She has severe atherosclerosis. Her situation is very serious.
Narrowed vessels supply a very low blood flow to her left leg and her right leg does not get any blood supply.
The specialist has informed us that they have already tried the only existent treatment they had on her, without any improvement.
There is no treatment. Surgical revascularization is impossible. Arteries are completely obstructed.
The wound on her right feet has developed into a nonhealing ulcer with a high possibility for it to end up with gangrene. In fact, he said, both legs will end up with no blood supply and mentioned amputation as the final stage of the disease...
We do not want her to suffer from amputation
MIL is over 82 years old.
I am sorry... I feel unable to explain more... Please, forgive me if I leave it for another day. I am too affected.
Thank you for your support, please, send your best vibs and prayers for her to suffer the less possible...
Love,
Tessa

Tessa,
I'm so sorry to learn of the seriousness of her case. It makes us feel so helpless when something like that happens.
We will be thinking of you, and praying for her.
I know this is beside the point now, but I keep thinking about the hospital waiting so long before they tried to help her. She needed help as soon as the symptoms started, and that might have made a big difference, if she had received treatment sooner.
Love,
Wayne

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Oh Tessa, mi querida amiga,
What sad news you have received. I feel so badly for your MIL. And how is Gabriel doing? And you? There is nothing worse than watching a loved one suffer. I will send up wishes and prayers as much as possible.
Meanwhile, please try to take care of yourself the best you can (others are counting on you). Try to eat properly and get enough rest if possible. This is to you from me:

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha

Hello Tessa
So sorry that your MIL is so ill. It is very hard to have to sit back without being able to do anything for them when your loved ones are ill & in pain. I have a fair idea of what you must be going through having had my Mum so ill for so long. You feel so helpless. My love & thoughts are with you & your family.

I am so sorry, too, Tessa. That is very sad news. I hope her pain is controlled at the hospital so she can be as comfortable as possible. It is very hard, when you are unable to do anything to cure the situation. You just have to go day by day and do the best you can. All my good wishes for her and you.

Thank you for your support, my dear friends. Mis queridos amigos, You are always there when needed. I feel I really appreciate your support.
Wayne- Thank you for your prayers. We initially also thought about the long waiting for her to get into the Hospital, but the doctor said that this situation could have started years ago as a silent ischemia...
Polly- Thank you for your wishes and prayers. I´ll try to take care of myself, though we are facing a hard time + going and coming from Hospital every day...
Mars- Thank you for your prayers and vibes.
Liz- Yes, it is very sad not being able to help. I didn´t know you had suffered so much with your Mum. I am really sorry about that.
Kathy- We are trying to help her with the pain and talked with the doctor about it. As painkillers are starting to fail and the pain increases at night, they have proposed to give morfine...
Barbara- We were expecting bad news when talking with the doctor, but we never thought it was going to be so bad. It was really heartbreaking and difficult as we had to go to her room quickly in order to avoid her becoming suspicious...
Shirley- It is hard and very sad, yes. There is no cure. The doctor showed us her tests to explain why there was no way to try surgery and it was very clear that - sadly - it is impossible...
JJ, Cristi - Thank you for your support
Sally - Thank you for your words, prayers and support. It does not matter if you cannot find the words you would like to use in order to express yourself. I think I can feel your emotion. Thank you.
All of you have given us your best support. We really appreciate it.
This coming week, we will have another meeting with the doctor. He said they had to take a decission about her. I think they want to send her home...
Though he proposed trying something to heal the wound, but he cannot promise it will work and added this might only delay the final stage of the disease for a short time...
He talked about a 100% Oxygen Room and mentioned she would have to go every day from home with an ambulance there in order to follow the 100% oxygen treatment... He said we would talk about it next week...
I´ll keep you updated.
On behalf of my husband and family, thank you for your support, vibes and prayers. All are welcome and highly appreciated.
Love,
Tessa
