Welcome Bob!
I've noticed I missed welcoming you to our wonderful family! I see you have jumped right in and found some answers already! WONDERFUL!!
I'm simply amazed at the diversity and oneness this family represents. We come from all over the world, with different ideas and lifestyles and find we have so much in common.
We've made fast friends and found better health along the way because of it. Can't ask for anything more, can you?
Anyways, welcome to our family.
Regards,
Mars

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
Hi Bob,
I know I failed to post also. No excuse except I've got my grandson with me right now and also using an old slow computer. I'll be glad when I get back to my usual one as far as doing anything on the "net" goes.
I you and I'm so glad you found this site. It can be a real lifesaver..........or at the very least make your life a lot more tolerable.
So glad you jumped right in and explored the site on your own.
I wish you the best and hope you will be able to get a handle on what works for you.

Wow, you folks are AMAZING. Not only do you put together this wealth of info for those who are desperately seeking, but you take the time to make it personal. Very rare in this age of "hit & run marketing".
After googling MC (again) 2 years since my diagnosis, I was amazed to find a site that wasn't trying to sell me something - then went on to discover the perfect sequence of info presented to a newcomer. Years of info, condensed into a perfect sequence of FAQ's.
When I was diagnosed in 2004, I discovered the Judy Malinonski site. You folks should be commended for "carrying the torch" for her, and Sally. I am certain there are 100's of "lurkers" learning from your work, for every one of us that begins to make a post on your well organized site. You folks are truly helping people, thank you.

Hi Bob,
I am pretty new around here too so am learning something new everyday. The folks here are amazing and extremely helpful. I have just started using entocort so you can check in with my updates to see how that med is working for me. I am following the paleo diet...hasn't solved the D problem but I haven't been on it a very long time....but I do feel a lot better...less body aches ,nausea and a lot less bloating. It was hard at first but it's amazing how fast you get used to something. Bottom line ..feeling better is a lot more important to me than the food. Everyone seems like they eventually find ways that work for them. Good luck and I hope to see you around.
Love,
Cristi

Hi Bob.
You have found a bunch of people who will do all that they can to support you, especially when you are having a bad time of it. Everyone here knows & understands just what you are going through. We have all had similar experiences & if we can help you in any way you can be sure that someone here will be able to point you in the right direction.
We come from all over, even Australia like me.

Hi Bob and welcome. I was diagnosed with LC in 2004 and am one of the lucky ones who, after 6 terrible months of explosive and unrelenting diarrhea, went into spontaneous remission where I've been for 20 months. No meds worked for me although I never did try Entocort which a leading GI at Columbia recommended (and that would have been my next step except I went into remission). As far as I know I have no food intolerances and am not Celiac but do have the DQ2 gene (tested through Prometheus Labs in California - I've never had any of Dr. Fine's tests).
You've suffered for such a long time. Have you ever seen an expert at a top GI hospital such as the Mayo Clinic? There's a doctor at Mayo who specializes in LC (I don't know if you have LC or CC). Anyway, if you'd like to see US News & World Report's list of the best hospitals for Digestive Disorders, go to http://www.usnews.com/usnews/health/bes ... hqgast.htm .
Good luck, Bob. My heart goes out to you and I don't know how you can keep functioning at work and deal with MC at the same time. I was retired before I got LC - and there is no way that I could have worked when I was so sick.
Love,
Carole

Wow, thanks to all for your helpful research, and support. I have not been to one of the "top" MD's, but nice to have that list if I decide to go further up the food chain.
I had just started the SCD a week before discovering your group - and I know that diet has not helped everyone here. I am going to give the SCD a fair chance to work. If nothing else, I am starting to get a better idea of how a specific food affects me. Prior to starting the diet a few weeks ago, I was eating a lot of brown rice (which per SCD I was unable to digest, transit time too short to break it down). I really couldn't see any improvement or worsening while I was eating the brown rice. Now that I am on the SCD I am able to observe when a food causes more bloating or gas - but am still shifting gears on figuring out what I can eat.
I will post the results on this site, but it may be a couple weeks till I have anything meaning full to say. Thank you all for your wisdom!
