Hi Marsha,

It's a small world! Do you still have family in those areas?
artteacher wrote: I've read dairy, wheat, legumes, and nightshades are the 4 main groups, but there are others. Bananas, for instance, have lectins in them, so are they in the banana group?
From what I've found bananas fall into the jacalin family. The lectin thing is pretty greek to me.

This article say's plant lectins are divided into 5 main groups. legume, monocot lectins, jacalin family, b-trefoil domains and hevein domains.

Hope that helps. Yes, it's easy to go on and on. That's how we learn from each other!

Joanna!

Thank you so much! I'm just on the computer for 15 minutes before I have to go pick up grandkids, so I'll read this and write you back. (Soon I hope)

Hi research buddy!

Holy cow, did you understand a word of that?

Yes, I still have lots of relatives back there. All of us younger ones don't speak Finnish like our parents, though, any more than counting to ten, etc.

I haven't been able to do much but hang out with family, but these latest postings on lectins are really interesting. Did you happen to catch that one person said in the post that there is a lectin binding amino acid?

Love, Marsha
