Beware of open cupboard doors!!!!!
Just a little reminder so no one else will do what I did. I think most of us have at one time or another.
I opened a cupboard door in my laundry room, got what I needed, used it on the floor then reaised up and hit my head on the corner. No bleeding, no big lump, but by the next day I had a screaming headache...felt like a tight band around my head and my left eyeball felt sore...throbbing, actually.
After a few days of this I went to the doctor, had a CT scan and he ordered STAT results. Well, I didn`t have a concussion or bleeding in the brain as he expected. What a relief!! But I then asked him what was causing the symptoms and he said I had what they call "shaken brain". When I asked how long the symptoms would last he replied that it could be weeks or months. Ugg! I still have the headache, the throbbing eyeball and lose my balance easily. I have lost two weeks of work but am going back tomorrow, symptoms and all. I have to maintain 30 hours a week in order to keep my insurance. When I start feeling better I am going to have to make up 8 days before 90 days are up.
Say a prayer that I won`t fall on my behind while at work and look like a fool. Sorry about making a book out of this, but a bump on the head can be a serious thing...as I have found out...and I have done this cabinet door thing before with nothing more than a headache. Love, Carol

OUCH Carol --
Thankfully all is *ok* but yes, slamming ya head into an open door---is not too funny-----
I am so very careful (well actually an in the place thing freak )
Open a door--close it---same with a drawer--
Mr. Louie has a problem with leaving things unclosed---thus my black and blues---
But of course if I 'd where I was going I imagine I wouldnt be walking into these things!!!
Stay well and hope all is going better @ home too--

Man that had to hurt, I have done that before. I once smacked my head on the corner of a glass stereo cabinet door I had Just cleaned sparkly clean(couldn't see it) and put a dent and cut in my forhead about the hairline....no bleeding scared the doc but after xrays he decided I was ok. Hurts like the devil. Love Calamity
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance
Carol,
About a year ago, one of my brothers bumped his head on a metal brace under a hopper tank, (which we use for holding corn, on the farm), and it didn't bleed either, (at least not externally). A big bump promptly rose up on his head, though, and the next day, he had what appeared to be a black eye, as the blood seeped down under the skin, and settled around the eye. Since it was affecting his vision, he went to see his doc, who told him it was nothing to worry about.
By the next day, both eyes were "black" and there were pockets of blood in his cheeks, causing his cheeks to puff out sorta like a chipmonk with a mouth full of whatever it is that chipmonks fill their cheeks with. He looked like death warmed over, but the doc still said, "nothing to worry about". For about a week, his eyes were swollen so badly that he could barely see, and it took over two weeks for the "black eyes" to completely clear up. It was very unpleasant, and kinda scary, but the doc was right - he was okay, after it cleared up.
The worst part was putting up with all the joking comments about his wife giving him two black eyes. They go dancing every Friday night, and usually on Saturday nights, also. They skipped the first weekend, since he didn't feel like dancing anyway, but when they went dancing the next Friday night, the black eyes were still prominent, so he took a lot of good-natured ribbing. They were the hit of the dance floor. LOL.
I hope you completely recover from that bump quickly. Things like that are definitely no fun.
Love,
Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
