Bob,

I think you may be noticing the yogurt reaction because other foods have been eliminated from your diet.

Or, I never had noticable reactions to any foods, including gluten, until I had eliminated them for a while. I think it's because your body is constantly dealing with them so it feels normal. Once you eliminate something your body has a chance to begin healing and then a reintroduction reveals the reaction.

Or, you're just more aware of diary now and connected the reaction to it.

Love, Jean

Thanks, all of those points appear valid. My valid food list is getting smaller...

Christine,

Did you buy an "egg replacer", or an "egg substitute"? Be sure to read the label, because most of the commercial egg substitutes sold in most supermarkets do contain egg products, and should not be confused with egg replacements (Ener-G Egg Replacer, for example, is egg free.)

OK folks, I saw the MD today and he agreed to put me on Asacol. I am relieved, because diet alone isn't working - and it has been hard to tell what I can tolerate when the condition doesn't clear up long enough.

I am on the "textbook" protocol, 2 pills 3x a day. The MD said the same thing many of you have described, that it can be cut back (eventually) and stay on a maintenance dose. Thanks to everyone for your input!
