BTW - has anyone heard of how uncomfortable a flexible sigmoidoscopy is? I have the option of sedation or not. He said that most do not since it isn't a full colonoscopy. I'm an RN, and I can't imagine a scope ( even though it IS small) entering into an inflamed and irritated bowel anyway. Feeling is only on the outside of the colon, but still.....you all I know get what I'm saying! :)

I may not be of the norm here (I'm sure I'm not) but my sigmoidoscopy hurt like h*ll. The fellow giving it to me told me I must have an abnormal curvature I offered to give him one to show him just how much it "didn't hurt" but for some reason he wasn't interested.

My colitis (CC) has always been at it's worst during menstration.

Looks like you have had lots of input and since I haven't been able to read all of the replies I won't say much except GET THE SEDATION FOR THE SIG. I haven't had one but Peggster did and it was horrible.
Hope we can be of help one way or another.

Still wondering about sedation or not. Who is "Pegster"? She said it was horrible and I'd like to see who has had sedation and who hasn't. I know Tex and a few others thought it not to be that bad.
