I'm confused.

Are you just trying to get onto your basic account or onto this board? If you're trying to get onto this board, I'll bet it's a cookie problem. I have it with AOL. I finally went to a different browser.

Hi Jill,

To add to what Jean said, I'm guessing that you're having a problem getting the computer to accept your main password. Dell has a proprietary system that supercedes the normal operating system, and if you have problems connected with that system on one of their computers, you usually have to contact them in order to resolve it.

That's the main reason why I don't buy their computers. They make very good equipment, but their computers are set up so that troubleshooting is much more difficult, since they have features in place that prevent anyone from servicing their computers without knowing the proper codes necessary to access certain features. And, of course, they don't give out those codes, so you have to call them when you have a problem. To their credit, they are usually very good at resolving problems, but of course, it often means that the customer will pay additional fees that might not be necessary, if the proprietary restrictions were not in place.

If the computer is still in warranty, I would call them and get that problem corrected, because one of these days it may lock you out for good. It shouldn't cost you anything to correct a problem with a new computer.

You shouldn't have to enter your password every time you boot the computer, unless you have it set up that way, (or unless the school requires that for sescurity reasons).

I assume you are aware that passwords are case sensitive.

Hi..thanks you guys...yes, the problem is with my main password, the one I use to log-in to the computer. This morning it fired right up...go figure...I am not going to turn off this silly machine until I got to bed tonight...haha. I talked with a tech guy at work, and they will expect to see me at 8:30 tomorrow morning...our opening faculty meeting is at 9AM, so I will have time to at least drop it off. Luckily, since the computer belongs to the school, I am not responsible for any repairs. That's why our tech guys make the big $$$ ....just kidding!

Thanks for the help...JJ
