I Think This News Release Is Mostly BS - What Do You Think?

Post by tex »

First off, I don't believe that patients with IBDs have weakened immune systems. They're only weakened if they are taking an immune-suppressing drug prescribed by their doctor. Secondly, the vaccinations they cite, are irrelevant to IBDs, as far as I can see.

It should be the doctor's responsibility to see that things like that have been taken care of before prescribing immune-suppressing drugs to anyone. Someone must have been hard up for an article, but felt an overwhelming urge to write one anyway.

Hi Tex....I agree with you.

I have a sister-in-law who had IBS symptoms so bad that she couldn`t eat a bite of anything if she was going anywhere for the day. I don`t know how she stood it for so long.

One day we we talking about pain meds and I mentioned that I could not take NSAIDS and to my surprise, she didn`t know that Advil was one of them. She had been taking that for years for various problems. I advised her to stop the Advil and begin taking Tylonel instead. After about a week, her symptoms went away completely. She tells me I am better than a doctor...who had never told her this... but I have learned so much from you guys.

She can now eat breakfast, lunch and dinner without worrying about finding a bathroom.

I`m not sure how this relates to your article, but thought it worth mentioning. Love, Carol

I agree, Tex!

The article mentioned 86% of the people in the study were taking immune-supressing drugs...well, DUH - those aren't prescribed for people with *weak* immune systems, but overactive ones....the article did not make the connection that perhaps the lack of resistance was due to the prescribed treatment - not the condition itself!

Mary,

Exactly! They seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouth at the same time. LOL. Also, assuming that the 86% figure is correct, the doctors still don't appear to be aware of any diet connection with IBD symptoms.

Carol,

Good work! I'll bet you "cured" more people that day than your SIL's doctor did. That means she's right - you are better than her doctor, as far as her health problem is concerned.

Love,

Tex, even the support websites for IBD mostly seem to say diet doesn't change, cause or have anything to do with it. :( I see a couple of mentions here and there, but mostly not.

I still say that the people in our family here do alot more research and most times have more knowledge about these things than the doctors do, I believe that Our Polly knows alot and I'd ask her any question with complete confidence.
