I have Iritis....anyone ever had this?
I woke up last week with an extremely painful and very red left eye. I went to the doc and he immediately sent me to an eye doctor where I was diagnosed with Iritis. I have had to use eye drops that keep the pupil dialated to prevent scarring and cortisone eye drops every hour to reduce the inflammation.
One of the causes listed was "an autoimmune reaction" and the risk increases with ulcerative colitis.
I went to the eye doc today and the treatment is working. I am now slowly reducing the cortisone drops (its prednisone).
I am curious to find out if anyone else has had ever had this. I had never even heard of it before.
Hugs....

Lori----sorry to hear this===
I never heard of Iritis----know of *conjuctivitis* where the eye is red---and irritated----and contagious too---my kids had it when they were tots--
I know when I was on Prednisone for CC---I had to have eyes checked cus they said that Pred. can affect the vision!!!
And here we go again----hearing that Pred. is used for THIS ailment!!!
Gets ya so confused---doesnt it???
Do feel better----

PS. to add---I gather the pred. we ingest for CC and the pred. U are using(drop-wise) must have different componenets~~~~

answering------hiya Pippi---
Anyway Lori-----I developed FLOATERS---seeing these black spots first---then as Carrie said---I thought it was a strand of hair floating by my eye--Also @ times have these flashers of whiteness????
This was back in 95---went to optomologist----was Xamined---and every thing was OK---appears *floaters are common* BUT again---I am checked often cus sometimes these floaters can cause a detachment in the retina---now this is a serious issue--
But I never did hear that it is caused from our ailments???
Just keep check----OK!!!

I had "floaters" for only a couple of days. I freaked out when it looked like I had a hair on my eggs at the restaurant. Luckily, I didn't call the waitress over right away. It was gone when I looked for it again. CRAZY! This disease is down right WACKY! Just when I think I have it under control something else rears its ugly head! GEEZ!
Luckily I went to the doc and had it treated right away. I guess it can cause some serious vision loss if not taken care of promptly.

HI,
Before gf, I had LOTS of bad migraines, but I also frequently noticed this smell that nobody else could smell. I don't remember whether these episodes were around the same time as the headaches or not. Perhaps they were just another form of migraine.
All have been gone since gf.
Now THIS is realllly weird -- I only smelled it in one place in the house, which just happened to be under an A/C vent and next to the fire place in here that's never been used for a fire. However, the roof burned off the house back in '90, and I always thought the smell was related to that.
It was between that and perhaps something died in the attic! Ha! Think I've sinse read a description somewhere of a common smell with that type of migraine, and it sounded very similar to the smell I smelled.
Hope the eyes continue to get better quickly.
Yours, Luce

Luce,
I used to have that experience but I didn't have bad smells. I would usually smell "new mown grass" or "watermelon" when it wasn't possible to have either aroma in the air. Like in the wintertime in Pa. I have been told it's a manifestation of migrains like the vision changes.
However, since you only smelled it in one place in the house, it makes me suspicious that it was related to the fire you mentioned somehow.
Love, Shirley
