Hi Kate,

I've noticed you posting about weight a few places and have been meaning to answer you.

Since finding all of my intolerances I have steadily lost weight, going from a size 16 to a 10-12. I have done nothing but avoid my intolerances to lose it. It has been very gradual, but noticeable. Like when I went to put on my work shorts this spring, they were way too big.

I don't monitor my calories or meal portions. I just eat until I'm full. This might shock some, but I usually eat a pound of steak at a time and I feel great when I do. I even eat potato chips quite often.

I think that now that my gut is healed and absorbing nutrients better, I don't feel constantly hungry.

I hope this helps, Love, Jean

I can only hope that will be true for me too! I know you have a much more active job than I do too, though. I sit at a desk for 9+ hours a day.

I do know that I look thiner when I am gf because of the lack of bloating. I am also trying to push myself into an exercise routine. Man is that hard.

One day at a time, right? Hopefully some of the pounds will come off before the wedding next summer so I don't look like a pig in my wedding pics.

I am doing better at sticking to a gf diet. Ever since I went off the antidepressant I was on, I feel sicker when I eat gluten. I'm sure it was suppressing some of those yucky feelings. Actually I think the anxiety they diagnosed me with was largely a food reaction (i.e., gluten). But hey, I'm an engineer, not a doc, so what do I know. I think it was either the gluten or the hormones (or both).

Kate,
I joined Curves a few weeks ago. I can't say that I've lost any weight, but I feel better and they say at first you are building muscle so you may even gain according to the scale. I sure hope that's true in my case - HaHa.

Anyway, the one I go to is about 5 minutes from home. If I had to travel a lot further, I wouldn't go (I'm sure). Sometimes I really don't feel like going but once I get there, I'm glad I did.

Just a suggestion. I remember Joanna posting that she and Lannie joined a while back. Perhaps she will tell us her experience so far.
