WOW! We've Finally Made The Big Tme!

Post by tex »

Hi All,

I was so glad to see this that I just couldn't keep it to myself. Everyone please pat yourself on the back. Our hard work is finally paying off.

If you Google microscopic colitis support, our site comes up in the Number 1 position. How about that! We've finally arrived.

We're also number one on Altavista and Yahoo, (except for the paying sponsers), but we've been on top there for several months.

Love,
Tex

Dear Tex,

You deserve a pat on the back and a world of thanks for giving us a place that is helpful to everyone and new people are anxious to find it. It is a tremendous amount of work for you and we all owe you a world of thanks for our home.

Would love to say we passed someone else who was number 1, but would I do that?

Love, Maggie

Hey gang!

That's super news!!! We did it! Three cheers for us!

Tex, what exactly is involved in the #1 position? It can't just be number of "hits", can it? Does someone actually look at content?

Thanks for all of your ongoing hard work to keep us the VERY BEST MC INFO AND SUPPORT SITE on the internet!

Love,

Polly

Thanks for giving us such an elegant place to communicate the message.

Thanks to all the amazing members, we have a message to send and each in our own way have sent it.

I always wonder how many countless lurkers we have given some hope or even good health.

As I said when you felt that the site was ready to open, " Let angels sing, trumpets flare and great rejoicing be heard throughout the land".

Hi all,

Everyone here shares the responsibility for getting us to the number 1 position. Your posts are what count, and we have almost 29,000 of them, so far. We've accumulated a lot of information in the 16 months we've been "building" this site.

Polly, I don't believe that anyone, (except the insiders, of course, and they refuse to say), knows what criteria Google uses for their site rankings. They use a different approach from all other search engines, but whatever it is, we must be doing something right. I suspect you're right - it's more than just the number of hits. I'm pretty sure that relevant content is important for rankings, also.

Anyway, when I saw that ranking, it made my day.

Love,
Tex

Hey,

I am so excited! This site was sooo needed, and should help lots of people, more and more as time goes on. Just glad it's no. one now!!!!

Thanks Wayne, for all your hard work, and Polly, for doing such a great job in the "introductory information" areas.

Yours, Luce

Yippee!! I saw a thing about Google on the History channel a couple weeks ago. Pretty intense stuff. They have all sorts of bells and whistles and hire the best of the best. The founders developed their search engine as a class project while Computer Science majors at Stanford. Both of them have parents who are mathematics or computer science professors. They have routine after subroutine that is constantly probing sites and ranking them and I forget all the details they did say, but basically the other sites admitted they had something and every time the other sites get close to figuring out the codes, the google folks update and change it up to keep them the #1 search engine.

This is a great group!

Grannyh,

Thanks, but it wasn't me. I only take care of the technical stuff. Much of the credit goes to Polly and the other moderators, and admins, for helping to set up and oversee the forums, and to all the members, (including yourself), whose posts provide support and valuable information on experiences with various treatments.

This board always has been, and always will be, a group effort. We have the advantage of a membership list that includes the best brainpower in the world, as far as MC is concerned - namely, the people who not only are living with it, but who have found solutions that work for them, and they're willing to freely share that information with others. We're all doing post-graduate studies here, in a sense, since we're discovering cutting-edge information, and correlating it with our own hands-on experience. Plus, we're able to have a little fun once in a while, while we're at it.
