Polly,
You're absolutely correct. As a group, soldiers returning from war suffer from all sorts of psychlological problems, due to being exposed to a constant routine of violence and death. Many of them have problems sleeping, they have problems focusing, and they have problems coping with daily life. No thanks to the media, we are now, (as a group), beginning to feel those same symptoms, and experience the same problems.
I've heard, (from those in the field), that many paramedics quit their jobs, and seek another line of work, because of the cumulative effects of witnessing death, severe injury, and various gruesome scenes in the course of their work. If they can't handle it, it's not likely that the general public will fare very well on a steady diet of that sort of thing, either.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I agree with everything everone has said but has anyone ever put just plain EVIL in the equasion? (sp) I know there has been evil in the world forever but it seems that more and more often evil is now being call insanity. I don`t buy that. I think some people are just born evil and are just waiting for a chance to act out.

I totally agree with all that has been said.
We lost a friend who worked for ODOT who's picture was plastered on the front page of the paper, lying on the ground covered in a white sheet with his work boot sticking out. Absolutely disgraceful!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The family
and friends of this man were just horrified that they put this on the front page. I guess gruesome news sells (sigh).
I think that we should have the punishment fit the crime.
Steal - cut off hands
Molest - cut off their
Murder - death penalty
etc., etc.
I wonder if the crime rate would reduce?????
Ok, I'm done.
Love,
Mars

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
