Sorry I've been scarce....

Post by CAMary »

Sometimes I get a chance to pop on here for a minute - but for a quick read - and rarely do I have the time to post (I'm squeezing this in now before preschool pickup!). Life has been very busy, and stressful - Mike has been traveling about 60-75% of the time for work. We have decided, for the sake of family/my sanity that it's time for a job change. He loves what he does & his manager, but the higher-ups are problematic ("too many chiefs not enough indians", LOL) He's been doing the job of 3 people for 6 months now, and word is no raises or bonuses this year - AND they've been dragging their feet on hiring him some help....

Our health benefits, suck, too - I put of going to the derm to get a funky spot checked out b/c of a $50 copay! (Finally went - it's nothing of significance!) And this is a HUGE medical equipment manufacturer! Meanwhile, He's den leader for cub scouts and has had to miss every meeting so far....my tutoring has dropped off, and I've had to spend more $ hiring sitters when my clients want evening help and he's gone....It's hardly worth it!!

He had a very promising interview last week w/a new company - the job would require no travel! It's a longer commute (right now he works in town - but it's irrelevant when he travels so much!), but if the pay offsets driving expenses, he plans to take it...this lifestyle does not suit our family at all....I also realize I would really struggle if I had to be a single parent - it ain't pretty - and I'm crabby w/ the kids when I don't get a break!

Gotta go do pickup - I hope to check in more when life falls in to place - cross your fingers this offer is the answer we are looking for!

Love,

Mary

Hi Mary,

Glad you checked in. Doesn't that suck when you are crabby with the kids for stuff that would slide if you weren't so tired or stressed? I feel that way a lot. And lately Geoff and I have both been that way a fair amount. My office is going through growing pains, although our boss is "trying" to help and Geoff is working 4, 10 hour days so he is exhausted at the end of the day.

Fingers crossed for your husband and this new position. Having him home sounds like what you both want.

Funny story for you...we have been on the girls' cases about antagonizing eachother, and tattling, and (you know, it goes on and on). But last weekend, Geoff and I were getting dinner, they were "folding laundry". All of a sudden we hear them screaming at eachother at the top of their lungs. Geoff went in to check on them and there were no fists involved so he let it go (plus he was laughing uncontrollably). They were yelling at eachother for the other always getting them in trouble and "do you think its fun getting yelled at all the time?" and the like. It went on for 20 minutes. At which point they came one by one into the kitchen to see what was up for dinner. They finished helping me make an apple pie, and in the middle of it appologized to eachother very very nicely! And they've been less argumentative with eachother since! Now if they could be less argumentative with us we'd be all set!

Good Luck to both you and your husband, Mary. It's wonderful that he also sees the need for a change and is willing to do something about it.

Morning Mary,

I do hope everything works out well for you and I know what it means to get a break every now and then no matter how strong your love is for someone. Definitely on the same page as Barbara.

Love, Maggie

Hi CA Mary!

Always good to hear from you! I don't know how you ever find a free minute running after 3 kiddies.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for the new job.

Love,

Polly
