Jill,
If it is one 3 mg pill you are taking, that is a very low dose. It is certainly fine as a maintenance dose, but it sounds as if you have been having too much inflammation to respond to such a low dose. Maybe you should consider something like Bob did......a very short dose of prednisone with immediate weaning to Entocort. Or if you don't want to take pred. (very understandable), a higher dose of Entocort, weaning to the lower dose once things are in control again. My thinking is that you may need to sock the MC harder initially to get on the road to recovery. IMHO.
Love,
Polly

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.
Hi Jill,
According to tests, you can safely take up to 18 mg per day, (for short to medium length periods), so you are a long way from a "maximum" dose. (As already pointed out, the recommeded treatment dose is 9 mg per day, of course).

Tex

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

I also started Entocort at 9mgs a day and weaned down from that. Sounds like that's a standard starting dose.
In light of a dosing dosage up to 18mgs (interesting), I wouldn't be too concerned about uping your dosage to 9mgs now or even higher. What you will be doing (rather than weaning up to a higher dose) is hitting your system with more of a jolt (like Polly mentioned) which you may find more effective, sooner. Just my thoughts.
Hope you find relief soon Jill- Hang in there, keep us posted and keep the faith!

Keep a watch on your diet Jill. Hopefully, that will help in conjunction with the medication.
