Our Unique Family Here

Post by Polly »

Morning All!

I can't resist following up on a recent post of Bob's, where he mentioned how caring this group is. We truly are unique, I think! In my experience we are very different from other websites. We do not even bicker among ourselves - unless done in a harmless, fun, teasing way. Everyone's opinion is welcome and respected.

But I have noticed two things that are exceptional about us. One, people get "well" here - by that I mean that each person finds ways to best manage their MC so that they may go about their lives as they wish. I believe this is due to the incredible wealth of knowledge and experience here as well as the caring and support.

Two, somehow we have managed to attract the most generous souls on the planet here. I mean this. Not only have our members shared meds and probiotics when someone is having difficulty making ends meet , they have generously offered and actually sent money to help out those in difficult times. And these gifts are given with no strings attached - they do not have to be repaid. The most amazing thing is that this is done eagerly and generously when the people have never even met each other.

I think there are two guiding principles at work here (thanks Sally and Wayne). The first is that we communicate in a spirit of respect (and yes, love), and the second is that we "pay it forward" so to speak. Folks who have been in remission for years now stick around to help out the newbies and those who suffer relapses. And those who have received gifts of donations then do the same for someone else as soon as they are able.

No wonder we think of ourselves as family.

Thanks to all of you for who you are. My life has been enriched immensely because of you.

Love,

Polly

Aye, Aye! Ditto! I Second Your Thoughts - you did it so much more eloquently than I could.

I for one - outside of Frank and his family - consider this loving Group my Family and close friends and the only one I have ever personally met is Alice. The support and love from everyone has gotten me through the worst bouts of MC, very low times in my life, my move from one home to our new home, broken toes, bad backs, teeth pullings and whatever else has come my way. My personal phone conversations with Polly, Barbara, Sally and others have been ones I will treasure and the advise, commiseration, and love from them has helped me immensely.

Thank you all and Polly, thank you so much for posting this.

Love, Maggie

Polly said it , AMEN! I for one have been a recipient of that help and support. Had it not been for everyone on this board I would have been in some real bad deep doo doo.
I ask for prayers and blessing for everyone on this board everynight. And for Wayne and the others that do so much for each of us. I for one am so very happy that everyone here is so caring and selfless. This is the way it's suppose to be in the world, and to thin a desease has brought us all together. I know the people on this board have helped me to do alot of deep thinking and souls searching. I love everyone of you. Love Oma

Here here Polly. I second that. It is a great group & one that you know you can turn to when you need a shoulder to cry on as well as when you have something to celebrate & you want to share it with those close to you.

Love

You are all very special and generous. I'd have been locked away by now without the support of all of you.

:bouncing: at Peg's comment.

But seriously, Cristi, you have hit the nail on the head. This board has been and continues to be a source of SANITY for many of us! That, in fact, may be its greatest value.

Love,

Polly

Wow - truer words have never been spoken! I remember the WCPPG - my husband asked - you are going to spend a weekend with a bunch of people you don't *know*? (except via the board!) - and I told him - hey we are all kindred spirits with common throne issues - we'll probably feel as comfortable around each other as family!! Sure en ough

Love you guys!

I don't mean to be redundant, but ditto to everything.

I don't know where I'd be without you all. You've been gracious, and patient, and so many of you spent valuable time doing research for a person you didn't even know. Stuck with me through falling off diets, and pursuing false leads, and being in denial/anger/helplessness. Offered friendship, and backed it up with action.

Kleenex, please. Love, Marsha
