Hi Mars,

I hope you're feeling better by now. Peggy's right, of course, life doesn't suck. Life is actually quite incredible. It's the curves that are thrown to us that suck, and a lot of those curves are thrown by doctors, and other people we have to deal with.

I wish I could recommend something in place of the ibuprofin, but I'm guessing that Tylenol doesn't work for you. A couple of years ago, when I broke an arm, I took ibuprofin for a couple of days, with no apparent ill effects. That was before I found Sally's board, so I didn't even realize that it was bad for me. LOL.

Love,
Tex :grouphug:

:tex: I truely do know that it is the circumstances not life, that I think sucks right now. Thanks for the reminder though.

I am not doing any better and have been googling for awhile trying to figure out some of the problems I am having.

The plurisy is coming more often and more intense each time. My knees and elbows are enflamed and swollen and hurt something awful. It is as if they have pockets of swelling. I also have bruising on and off in various parts of my body. The other day I developed an erasure size, perfectly round bruise on the inside of my elbow, looks like it does when I give blood or remove a bandaid. The pain in the elbows and knees is so bad I could cry.

I am constantly fatigued and have been having headaches more often. Don't forget the eye irritation and slime in them.

The only thing I could find on the internet was autoimmune disorders (i.e., and/or plurisy, lupus and artheritis.) I sound like a hypocondriac don't I? Can't spell worth a crap either! LOL

Anyways, don't think my doctor knows squat about the MC and I have to keep reminding him of it. I told him on the phone that the only pain reliever I could take with the MC was tylanol and that it didn't touch the plurisy pain (verrrrrry bad) so he tells the pharmasist to have me take Ibuprofin. :duh:

I am eating pretty good (GF) as much as possible. The obvious anyways. Don't think the pain and swelling have anything to do with diet - don't really know though.

Have had no D for quite a few weeks, no bloating, little gas (fresh veggies and fruit) but nothing major. Actually I have been a little constipated (prob. the meds doing that).

Ok, I'm done whinning again. Just need to unload. Feel so helpless and frustrated again. Was doing so much better and now feel worse than I have in a long time - just different issues.

Hon, it has to get better. You WILL get through this. I am assuming that they have put you through all the blood test known to man..er..doctors.
At least you aren't having to contend with D on top of everything else. If the plurisy gets "gone" then hopefully you'll be much more able to handle the rest and actually find a clue or two in your research.

I sure hop so, Mars,

Hi Mars,

Go ahead with the ibuprofen. You need relief from the pain...hopefully, like many of us, you will do okay with a short term treatment.

Hang in there.

Hey Mars

Life does suck sometime!!! :censored: I too have had an awful week & am trying to figure it out. Diet has not changed but I too am having worse fibro flares. Tendonitis & bursitis. I have been using ultram & find it quite effective. It is Rx only & I just take 1/2 when I really need it but you need to stop the pain & that might do the trick. Hate to "see" you hurting!!! Sounds like you may have fibro. ((((((((((((((((((((Mars))))))))))))))))). Hope you feel better. Sending you loving light, Rita

Hi Mars,

Your description of the pain in your elbows and knees sounds to me a lot like arthritis. You may recall some of my posts in the past, where I mentioned having knee problems so severe that I had to use a cane to get around.

I relieved the pain by taking flax oil and glucosamine sulphate. After I cut gluten out of my diet, I never had a problem again. However I continued to take the flax oil and the glucosamine.

About 3 weeks ago, I failed to read the label on a bottle of grape juice, (it contained corn syrup), and I started having a reaction, which was excaserbated by a suspicious pork chop, so I stopped taking the flax oil and the glucosamine, (I figured I didn't need to be taking it anyway). Within about 10 days or so, I began to notice those old familiar arthritis pain symptoms in the little finger of my right hand, (this is where the arthritis pain was the worst when I started taking the flax oil and gluosamine, several years ago).

I let it go for about two days, because I thought maybe it was just a false alarm, but after two days, the pain was so bad that there was no question about it--the arthritis was back. I started taking the flax oil and glucosamine again, and in two days, the pain was completely gone.

Now, I can't guarantee that you will have the same results, but I am a believer in the flax oil and glucosamine. I never argue with success.

Here is what I think happened to me. I believe that pork chop that I ate several weeks ago was contaminated with gluten, because this reaction has been one of the most persistant that I have had since I have been on the diet. It just doesn't want to end. I haven't had this type of problem for almost 3 years now, because I have been very, very strict about gluten, even in trace amounts. I took someone else's word on the pork chop, and I won't ever be eating there again.

I suspect that virtually all of your symptoms, (except the plurisy), but including the eye problems, and the joint pains, are caused by trace amounts of gluten. If you can't eliminate them from your diet, I would suggest that you try flax oil and glucosamiine to at least eliminate your joint problems, if possible. I don't believe that there is any chance that the flax oil and/or glucosamine could hurt you in any way.

Many doctors will tell you that it's a waste of time to take these two over-the-counter products, but those same doctors will also tell you that diet modification won't help to control the symptoms of MC.

If this doesn't help, it's time to start investigating the possibility of fibro.

You may even have a virus. I caught a virus last spring at a wedding, that gave me the same type of eye problems that you describe, and I didn't think the eye problems were ever going to go away, either, but they finally did.

I hope you feel better soon. All those symtoms by themselves are bad enough, but when you have them all together, it really does suck.

Love,
Tex

Mars Bar!

This sucks major big time. Have you actually BEEN to the doctor to have your chest listened to and your joints and bruises examined? I know, I know.......... you HATE doctors, but it might be a good idea if you haven't. Maybe something is being missed. For example, Lyme disease can give headaches and joint problems. I agree that some basic blood tests might be in order - along with a chest xray.

Hope all of this is history SOON. (((((Mar Bar))))).

Love,

Polly
