Update
Just to update you, my friends, Geoff's mom appears to be doing a bit better today. She was able to eat yesterday at lunch and dinner, but was still running a high fever. It was 104 or so in the afternoon, and about 102 in the evening. Today its about 101. So its going in the right direction.
She has pneumonia, and they think C-Diff. Many of you have been there done that I know. They have ruled out heart attack. They are doing a CAT scan of her belly today. Geoff thinks they said they can see signs of c-diff on it and they will look for diverticulosis (or itis? I always forget which form is the problem).
Anyway, it sounds for the moment anyway that she is going in the right direction, but certainly not out of the woods yet.
As for me, I went dress shopping for the wedding this morning and have ordered my dress. Of course the one I liked best was on the pricier side, but I decided to go for it anyway (and the price wasn't really all that bad for a gown).
I also took the girls and my niece (who will be a bridesmaid) to look at dresses. Erin will be the flower girl, Kayla will be the ring bearer. That is going to be a tough choice...so many options. And my maid of honor (assuming she calls me back and accepts) will be my sister. She is 5'-7" and 37 and my niece is about 4'-8" and 15. But we saw some styles today that I think will work on both of them.
Anywho, that's been my day today. Its raining cats and dogs and getting very windy. Geoff is napping and then we'll take the girls to see their grandmother this afternoon. He and I are both exhausted, although he more so than me. I just don't handle it as well as he.

Katy,
Thanks for the update, and I hope she continues to improve. I don't understand how they could see C. diff on a scan, but then, there are a lot of things that I don't understand. LOL.
on picking the dress you liked best. After all, you don't get married every day.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Hi all,
Geoff's mom is improving. On Saturday her temp was coming down slowly and on Sunday it was normal. Whew. She is still in ICU although we suspect that they will move her back to med surg in the next day or two. We didn't talk to any of the docs or nurses yesterday directly, but I guess the CAT scan did show inflamation around her colon. Whether that is because of c-diff, or something else we aren't sure, but whatever they are doing seems to be working. She was so much more herself yesterday. Able to completely feed herself steadily (she could hardly hold the spoon earlier in the weekend never mind a glass of water or whatever). Her appetite has been reasonably good throughout this.
I think Geoff went to see her this morning before work. He left the house at 5 and doesn't have to be to work until 6 (and its only 2 miles to work).
Anyways, hopefully we can start to relax a bit. It's been a rough weekend.

Morning Katy,
So happy to hear that Geoff's mom is showing promising signs. She definitely deserves a break and all indicators say that she is.
Kudos to you for picking what you want and not letting the almighty dollar rule your decision. For all you have been through, you deserve the dress you want.
Take it easy and try to get some time for you.
Love, Maggie

Great news Katie!
Glad things are improving.
As for the wedding dress.........I'm glad you went with what YOU wanted! It's gonna be a day to remember and you won't have those "if I only did........." feelings afterward. You go girl! Enjoy - it's gonna be your last wedding so do what you want!
Love ya,
Mars

Even better news last night. When Geoff went to see his Mom she had been moved out of ICU. She is still on that same floor but in one of the transition rooms. She was up sitting in a chair and had walked a bit during the day too. The nurse was in taking her off as many tubes as possible so she can be more comfortable. First was the oxygen and I know that was driving her nuts. It will probably be another week in the hospital as they said they won't send her home until the D goes away, which is apparently still a problem. Apparently not c-diff, but a swelling or infection around her colon on the outside? I'm kinda foggy on it.
