Hi All,
I didn't mean to take a hiatus from here, it just happened.
I've been feeding day one chicks from a pair of birds that didn't feed (unplanned pregnancy). That means that I have to feed every two hours around the clock. On top of that we had early frosts and snow so I had to hurry and pull all of the annuals at work. It's been too cold to take the birds to work, so I've had to drive back and forth.
Needless to say, I've been sleeping every chance I get.
I set up my pairs of birds at the end of September in hopes that they would start laying in November, like last year. Well, the hormones must be intense in the bird room because 9 out of my 10 pairs have already laid eggs. I'm hoping they feed their babies or I'm in for a long stretch of no sleep. I'm hurrying to get done at work so that I can be laid off, a month earlier than last year.
I hope to keep in touch, if I don't I'm thinking about all of you.
Love, Jean

Be kind to everyone, because you never know what battles they are fighting.
Good luck getting done early (at work). I hope it works out for you. Sounds like you are going to need the extra time!!
Good luck with the rest of the "parents" too. Maybe they'll be devoted to their young. I know it's still a lot of work even if they do the feeding.
Love, Shirley
