Help...burning sage???

Post by Umber »

I remember that there has been a discussion about burning sage for some positive purpose. If I recall correctly it even had a name.

Anyway, my friend's friend just lost her husband (very young couple) and she asked me about the sage thing. Her friend needs the specifics.....like where do you get it? Is it regular sage like the spice etc? I told her I would go to my super smart web group and see what I could find out.

Sorry I haven't been around much....not even able to lurk very often! I started a new job the end of September and am learning something I haven't done before. I am working for an awesome company, they are owned by Merrill Lynch. The CEO is really into the philosophy of the Fish Mongers of Seattle's Pikes Peak Market. If any of you have heard of or read any of their books you know how awesome they are. It certainly makes for a great environment.

I worked for a mortgage company when we first moved to Portland back in 1990. There are several people at my new office that I worked with then. It has been so exciting.... some of them I haven't seen in 15 years. One of the girls brought in photos of me and my hubby at her wedding. My youngest daughter was three months old and is now 15.

Being fired from the car dealership was an absolute blessing! There is always positive that comes out of something negative.

Thanks for any help regarding the sage!

Hugs!

Hi Lori!

I think Sally is the expert on burning sage. You might want to call or email her.

What is the fishmongers' philosophy? And what does your company (and YOU) do?

Great to hear from you. I can't believe how big Kylee is getting. I'll bet she is lots of fun. Say hi to Ashlee form me.

Love,

Polly

Lori,

Congrats on locating a great job.

I think that Oma is familiar with that practice, also. She'll Probably be along after work, today.

Hugs,
Tex

The book I read was called "Catch" "Stop Floundering and become more effective in your life and work". If anyone is interested...I highly recommend this book. Its an easy read, a lot of fun and life changing.

As for my office:
This is the philosophy of the Fishmongers for business'

EMPOWERMENT - The astounding creativity, productivity and profitability that erupts when leaders are willing to be wholly committed to empowering their employees.

VISION TO REALITY - Any group of people... anybody... can create a powerful vision and have it happen.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD - making a profound and lasting difference in the quality of life in the world is the true purpose of being in business.

I went to work for a company called Wilshire Credit Corp. We are a mortgage loan service center. We handle all aspects of mortgage lending for other companies. I have my foot in the door and there is so much growth potential. I am so blessed to have this job!

Hugs

Hi There.....I burn sage. I burn it for things like loss ( Like when My Dad died) for cleansing, for purifying a place and to protect. I have a prayer that I say. I especially Like to take it with us when we worked on the road because there were so many places that had bad feelings to them, it was something I could feel in the place itself, so I would burn the sage. You can burn it before , during and after meditation, ( to ward off evil spirits) When you meditate you can open yourself to not so nice spirits unless you take certain measures. I have a special prayer before meditation and one for when we travel, even to the store. I have a prayer for my furr babies every day as well. Besides sage smells great, I like Cedar also
The Indians used it before battle. The medicine men used it to cleanse. Love Oma
PS Not sure where she can get it in her Area, I found mine at a health food store, and once from an Indian friend.
May I be more compassionate and loving than yeterday*and be able to spot the idiots in advance

Hi Lori,

I also burn sage and Oma is right on target with the principles of it. Sally, Oma and I are the ones I know of that are participants in this ritual.

Love, Maggie
