Carrageenan and inflamation

Post by mle_ii »

Well, if this isn't more evidence of some folks reaction to Carrageenan, then I don't know what else could be. I'm guessing this is some form of molecular mimicry going on here. The Carrageenan looks like, to some folks immune systems, some prevous pathogen or looks like one corresponding to an HLA gene.

Carrageenan Induces Interleukin-8 Production through Distinct Bcl10 Pathway in Normal Human Colonic Epithelial Cells.

What boggles my mind is that Carrageenan is used for the purpose of simulating colitis in labs. So how in the world can they not put 1 and 1 together and yet I can.

Hi,

Way before MC I had problems with carrageenan. I would get slightly ill when I would eat soy ice cream...but if I made it myself I never got sick. A nutritionist tipped me off when I thought it was the soy making me ill...she said many people have problems with it.

Love,
Cristi

Well, your a brilliant researcher! I'm sure someone is connecting the dots out there. Just curious, who do you think has a better handle or interest in this? The medical community or the food industry?

Thanks for the article. It scares me to death everytime I shop and see all the processed, non foods in our stores.

Love,
Joanna
