A few months ago, I deleted the membership of a registrant who called herself Susnelda, because, (as I recall), she never activated the account, or else she never posted, after quite a few months of membership.
At the time, I suspected she might be you-know-who, but basically, I was just cleaning up old, inactive accounts, that I thought would never be used. I guess I was wrong, because she's back, and apparently a resident of Canada, (British Columbia).
Just goes to show - one never knows.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

Very good question. I don't see any information that's an obvious tipoff that she/he is not legit, so I guess I'll just have to assume that she/he is ok, until we have a reason to think otherwise. Most of the spammers use suspicious looking tactics that provide at least a hint that something is wrong. Of course, if it's you-know-who, she wouldn't follow a typical "spammer" type of registration routine. The registration was made in BC, Canada, and I doubt that you-know-who would know how to do that, (unless, of course she enlisted the aid of a well qualified hacker).
For example, look at the one who just registered this evening, "thzfartn". Besides a very suspicious name, he listed "trading:" for occupation, interests, and signature. I don't think that normal people do things like that. Also, he selected eniwetok for the timezone, and that's a popular choice for spammers who register for this board. (So far we don't have any legitimate members who select that time zone). These guys list an entry, (usually the same word), for occupation, interests, and signature, because some php board admins set up the registration process so that those are required fields, in order to deter spammers who use automatic computer registration.
I may have to add another hurtle to the registration process if he gets to be a real nuisance, but I hate to make it more complicated for legitimate registrants, just to slow down spammers. As long as this doesn't happen all day long, every day, it's pretty easy to just delete their membership, as soon as they register.
After you two look at his profile, if you agree with me, we need to delete this guy, "thzfartn", (unless you think that he's legit).

The registration IP address shows that the registration originated in Victoria, BC. That doesn't necessarily have to be the actual physical address of the member - it's the address of the ISP, where the registrant was connected to the internet, when the registration was entered.

The reason why the account was left active is because I usually just delete memberships like that, but I wanted to leave this one as an example, until you and Jean had a chance to see it, and I just plain forgot to set the account to inactive. (Shame on me - I guess my CRS is flaring again). He actually logged on yesterday, immediately after he registered, but obviously, he didn't post.
I used to just set those accounts as inactive, and leave them for a while to see if anyone complained about not being able to log on. I decided though, that for the obvious spammers, there's no point in hesitating, so I just started deleting them. I guess when I stopped setting those accounts to inactive, I forgot all about that option. Another problem with just setting them to inactive and leaving them, is that some of them don't immediately activate the account, so with three admins, we wouldn't know whether someone else set the account to inactive, or the registrant just failed to activate the account. In the latter case, the account could still be activated at any time, and would probably be overlooked, if enough time had passed since the initial registration.

When I get the email that shows a new user, I review and delete without letting anyone know that I did it. They are obvious spammers when I do that though.
If I ever have a question or am unsure, I usually send you an IM. In this case, "his" email address was very questionable and I just "bye=bye'd him"
