The snow is nice but just a bit to much of it. Twenty eight inches in my backyard with a four foot drift down the south side of the house.
All major roads in and out of Denver are closed
Denver International Airport has been closed since early yesterday and is not expected to open until tomorrow. Five thousand stranded.
Denver has declared a state of emergency and is pretty much shut down with no mail service, no bus service, no light rail and they are asking that everyone stay at home. Most malls and business are closed so the is no where to go anyway.
And it is still snowing hard. Not supposed to stop until mid afternoon
I am working a bit at a time to shovel the sidewalk all the way to work.
My fifty foot commute is taking a little longer this morning.
Love

I'm jealous! We are not going to have a white christmas here in VT. At the same time that is good because I just got word I got another project that I need to do some borings for in early January and not having snow cover will help immensly (plus I have two projects for which I need to do slope evaluations, which will become impossible if it snows).
Take it easy with all that shoveling!

Isn't that something. Having to shovel your way to get to work - all 50 feet of it!!!! Seriously, I'm so glad you are safe and (presumably) warm. Take it easy on the shoveling. Don't overdo it, and please let us know how Denver makes out dealing with it all.

I watched a bit of the weather channel this evening - the roads were absolutely EMPTY; and those poor travelers!
Glad you don't have to get the 4WD out of the garage to go to work! Take it easy shoveling!
Enjoy your white Christmas!!!! I guess we are in for a wet, rainy Christmas weekend!
Merry Christmas!

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful." -- Buddha
What a great day.
I soon made my way out to the shop where a huge stack of table legs was waiting to be turned. Worked for a while , shoveled for a while, worked for a while , shoveled for a while, eventually made it across the back and down the the side of the house. As the weather began to clear more and more people were about. Trudging down the middle of the street on foot , walking by on snow shoes or flying along on cross country skies. All with a cheery hello or would stop to talk. It’s so great how a storm like this brings about a closeness and a sense of camaraderie that is not their at other times.
My neighbor across the street is a nurse and on call today and since her car was buried to the point of being unrecognizable I cleared it out for her. About that point my neighbor to the south called out, ”Hey Matt, I just found a mastodon tusk!” which sent all the other shovelers along the street into gails of laughter.
Tomorrow I attack the apron and alley behind my shop in hopes that I can get out in the next few days without getting high centered since my car is sitting snugly in the garage. If not I have plenty of food or I can walk to Safeway or Wild Oats just for the fun of meeting all the neighbors trying to clear out.
Merry Christmas to all

Merry Christmas to you too Matt!!
The snow must make it lovely and we are expecting rain and I am praying it turns 20 degrees colder and we at least get a dusting. I did e-mail the North Pole this morning and offer my services if Rudolph should get sick since I have a terrible cold and my nose is bright red.
We had a huge blizzard here a few years back and it was great to see the neighbors and have a laugh or too. Somehow bad circumstances bring out the neighbors.
Love, Maggie
