Hi Beth,
Because you have a confirmed low cortisol test and digestive problems. If you have abnormal blood calcium and electrolytes like potassium, it would be a further indicator of parathyroid gland, pituatary, or adrenal problems. Some of those glandular problems are Addison's, Schmidt's, and Cushings disease.
I cringe to think what Polly must think, because she's the only one here who's qualified to give medical advice. I'm really really not a doctor, I only play one in my spare time .. . . .

HAHAHAHAHAHA, Marsha!
Actually, since we have had our new MC board, I don't believe I've done any cringing. But back on the old board, it was a different story. There were a few members there who tried to perpetuate the most outlandish misinformation about MC - for example, that there was a collagen band that actually constricted the gut, that you would become intolerant to a food just by avoiding that food, etc.
Fortunately, our family members here offer carefully researched and well thought-out opinions and advice. I thoroughly enjoy reading others' advice and actually have learned a lot. BTW, I feel like I am in a delicate situation at times. Since I do have a medical degree, I often hold back and refrain from offering my opinion, as it would be most inappropriate for me to try to treat anyone online. I might offer an opinion that someone takes to heart because they know I am a doc, and of course, I know nothing about their medical history and other important factors. Usually I just offer my/our own experience here or cite research. That's why you'll see me noticeably absent in some of the advice discussions.
Love,
Polly

Hi Beth,
I am sorry that you are feeling so bad these days and struggle so much with symptoms. I used to be a very frequent flyer on this board back when I was struggled and suffered - like others have already said, please, don't ever think you are a pest
There is so much to be gained from staying in touch with the people on this board.
I now live a very good life controling my symptoms via diet alone - I learned everything from the same people who are helping you. Everything.
I was always hungry and spent my entire time eating, shopping for food, or crying over my situation and going to the bathroom - whenever I didn't do one of the above I sat in front of my computer and wrote messages to this board "SOS" "HELP" "SOS" "HELP" Talk about being a pest! You have your ways to go before you beat records set in the past.............
Sometimes when I think of it it seems impossible that I didn't know what I know today; but it took a long long time to figure out how to do the right things with the diet all the time. I think one of the most difficult things for me was to keep trusting that the key to my problem was in the diet - it takes as much stamina as running a marathon; but if you keep training you will get there - it doesn't require speed; just dedication and consistancy.
One of the big pluses of doing diet is that once you figure out what works it is usually extremely simple to do the diet. You will LOVE it when one day things start to go in the right direction - sometimes you will get some setbacks that make you think it will never work but you just need to remember that it is a setback - a little bump on the road. Nothing else - part of the process.
I always liked to write about my misery on the board when I felt really hopeless - there were members who's responses made me laugh while crying; the humor was really great - and in my case allowing myself to curse about it brought great relief too. This disease is VERY rough to deal with, no joke
Matthew gave me the title of a book on meditation written by Jon Kabat-Zinn "Where ever you go, there you are" back when I struggled so much - it brought me great joy and relief.
Take good care of yourself tonight and always.
Love,
Karen
