Hi Joanna,

My favorite was a collage made just for me by my niece's 10 year old little girl, Jordan. She used family photos (many with the 2 of us) and glitter, captions, etc. She is artistic as well as creative, so it looks great!

Uses NO patterns-----thinks of something and creates it on her own!! I am soooooooo impressed and so PROUD of my grandaughter~~~

Perhaps this will be her *calling* and she justs beams when she talks about her designs---

My favorite thing was having my sister here for Christmas and being with most of my immediate family. Only my son and his family were missing.

Hope to all get together one of these days. Most of us don't exchange gifts. Just give to the kids.

That's Robert & I we do mostly now. There is not much that you need or want by the time you get to our age & as you say Barb, if we want anything we just go & buy it. My sisters & I still exchange gifts but I think that will be coming to a close soon too. Just so hard to think of anything to give each other. I always make a Xmas cake for my younger sister, along with one for just about everybody else, so that will be all we will give her & her husband next year.

I have a favourite perfume that I wear exclusively, 'Youth Dew' from Este Lauder. I usually get that from Robert at some time during the year, whenever I am close to running out & that is my gift for the year. It all comes out of what we call consolidated revenue anyway.

Just having family close is enough present for me.

Love

Besides being with lots of family I received from my daughter a set of three Lenox angels that are part of the Nativity. I had never collected anything until one day a few years ago a few of us were talking about collecting and I said if I collected anything at all it would be angels. Lori knows me well enough not to buy angels at the drugstore or dollar store so she began getting me a Lenox angel every year. These three make nine. I cherish each one.

She made a mistake the first year and took the price tag off the box but it was also on the bottom of the angel. She was so embarrassed but I told her...you are my only child so they will be yours one day so don`t bother. If she would ever need the money she could sell them. Wow! I made this a lot longer than I intended. Sorry. Love, Carol

My sister gave me a sewing machine...now I need to learn how to use it, hahaha...it was on my wish list....I am excited to perhaps use it for some art pieces. I used to make abstract hand quilted oil paintings...sounds weird, but they were like painted low reliefs...I also love my new ax...a belated birthday gift...hahahaha...JJ

I got one of those chair back massager things (although the vibration has been too much for my upset stomach, so Ihaven't used it yet), and a food processor!

Geoff's big gift is good for me too...I got him a table saw! Now maybe we can get some projects done around the house.

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

We don't exchange gifts either - give to charities instead.

My favorite gifts: (spiritual and material)

accompanying "O Holy Night" on Xmas Eve, sung by a special soloist/friend who is professor of opera at NKU

a voice message from my 2 year-old niece in Mn. thanking me for her gift
(so cute and funny)

gift cards to Barnes and Noble from a couple students and co-workers

Kathy - love the photo! What a doll. The times with the little ones are my favorites, too. We are heading up to Mn. in a couple weeks - can't wait to see them again. A belated gift, for sure.

Love,
Alice

Seeing that beautiful grandchild and the tree made my eyes water. I miss my grandkids.

My favorite was refridgerator magnets made by grandkids: a skulpy-clay lizard, moose, ladybug, and butterfly. Made by the 13 yr old, the 3 yr old, the 2 yr old, and one must have been made by mom, I guess. The moose was pretty funny: we thought it was a mister potato head until we found the antlers in the bottom of the package, and glued them back on.

Me too, and I don't even have grandchildren yet!

That is a beautiful tree, fresh cedar I think. Noticed the Swedish flags on it.

Well, I enjoy practical - so I'd have to say my new electric pencil sharpener :present:

I also got this foam wedge thing you put between your knees while you sleep - I lke that a lot, too - you know you're getting old when you want orthopedic pillows for Christmas

Katy - my friend got one of those back massagers - it feels good - but pressed a little hard, IMO - I jumped when it got to my mid-back
