Hi All,

It's been a while since we've had a Monday night chat. Is anyone interested in a chat tonight - say around 8:30 EST, (7:30 Central time)? I believe that's the time when Mars sometimes schedules a chat.

Note that the "chatroom" software has been upgraded, so it may take a little longer for it to load on your computer, but I checked it out, and it seems to work fine.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, I'll try to shovel the snow away from in front of the door, and put a fresh log on the fireplace. Stop by if you can, and we'll try to start the new year off right.

I am so sorry, but I never know what you mean when you mention the time...

8:30 ..... 7:30 ???

I do not know how to calculate what time it will be where I am living...

Can you help me?

Even though, I have to start working tomorrow (holidays are over) and I do not think I will be able to join. But I would love to know how to calculate it for another chat. Thank you for your help.

Will try to drop in Wayne. Have to pick Indiabeau up from Woodford sometime today as the Festival is finished & they have to dismantle everything & take it home, a pretty big job.

Hi Tessa,

EST means Eastern Standard Time, which is the time on the east coast of the U. S. (CST is the time in the Central Standard Time zone).

There's a link at the top of each page on this board, (just above the Google Search box), to a world clock. If you click on it, you can see that, (for example, right now, it is about 3 PM in New York, which is EST, and it is 9 PM in Madrid), you are 6 hours ahead of EST time.

That means that when it is 8:30 PM EST, it will be 6 hours later in Spain, or 2:30 tomorrow morning, January 2nd. That's too late to be staying up, of course, especially if you have to work tomorrow. One of these days, if there is enough interest, so that we can get the chats going again, we need to schedule some chats earlier in the day, so that you can participate, also.

We would need to schedule the chat around noon, here in the U. S., so that the time in Spain would be about 6 PM. So many people here are at work that time of day, though, that we would probably need to schedule the chat on a weekend. We will try to do that sometime.

Hi Liz,

I'll bet that is a lot of work.

I may have picked a bad day, because a lot of people may be traveling, or visiting, but I thought I'd give it a try, because I'm usually working that time of day, on most Mondays.

I hope we can get a good-sized group together. We'll see, anyway.

It will be a lot of work. The restaurant was put together over a few days after Gilles built it at home. Eventually he will build the kitchen on a trailer which will make it a bit easier.

Polly,

Clear all your cookies, and then close your browser. Then when you reload it and login, the system will set a new cookie, and the chat should work.

Hi Tessa,

I wrote a reminder note to myself, so that I can be sure to remember to try to schedule a time that might work well, on the weekend.

In the meantime, you might click on the "Chat" button, before then, to make sure that your browser will load the Java routine that operates the chatroom. IOW, make sure that when you click on the button, it actually takes you to the chatroom, and not just a grey screen.
