Jill, losing weight that quickly is not good. I have learnt that it is better to lose it more slowly and that way it is more likely to stay off. My doctor does not want me to lose more than a kilo (about 2 pounds) per month. She says that is better & allows your body to adjust. I have now lost about 16 kilos. (about 36 pounds) since last April. I don't consider myself on a diet, I just have a 'foodplan' which I compile each week. If I have anything that is not on my plan, I change it so that I can see exactly what I am consuming. I take it to my doctor when I visit her each fortnight & she reckons it is pretty good. It is nutritionally sound, which is really very important. I would question whether you are taking in necessary nutrients on a diet that allows you to lose weight so quickly. Be careful, would hate to see your health jeopardised. I don't feel deprived in any way & even though I went off the rails a bit over Xmas I still lost about a pound. Just am more concious of what I am consuming.
Good luck with it.
Love

Hey Jill,
The weight you're losing right now is probably mostly water weight, and that's why it's coming off so quickly. It's very normal to lose a lot of weight quickly when you start the low-carb diet. That rapid weight loss will taper off, though, which is good. Liz is right - in the long-run it's healthier to lose the weight more slowly. If you aim for about 2 pounds a week at the most, you'll be on a very good track to healthy weight loss.
To your health!

Hi...thanks for the good advice.... of course you are correct...fast weight loss is not good...I have done the Atkins Diet before and yes...a lot of weight comes off in the first week. Liz...I am eating meat (chicken, fish and lean beef) and veggies...some mayo and also some oil in my diet. I stay at or near 20 carbs per day. If I start eating carbs again, it's all over for me...I am certain I am addicted to sugar. I also know I will hit a plateau along the way...sigh...but need to keep at it!
I take a multi vitamin, calcium supp., fish oil, and a B complex. I sometimes eat a few blueberries in my protein drink...I just can't eat too many...I am not on a crash diet...I am in this for the long haul, until I can add some good carbs back in. This is helping me break the bad cycle. I'll let you know how it goes, but won't report for a while....maybe after I lose 10 pounds...hahahaha
