Maltodextrin is a sweat, easily digested carbohydrate made from cornstarch.

Marsha, thank you for the technical reading - wow, body builders tend to be super chemists; I don't know if they really understand what they writing - I have a hard time following it. But yes, they make a case for the combinations of maltodextrin and dextrose that is found in all kinds of workout drinks, shakes, gels etc. such as for example GU. Many studies have been done to test these theories - there is some science behind it. That's why I don't completely write it off as HYPE (Matthew) - although I wish I could make my mind let go of it.
