I had the same thought, Matthew. Also Karen, haven't you been avoiding rice?

Hope the discomfort is short-lived.

Love,

Polly

WOW, the food detectives are at work - Thank you guys; you have given me something to think about.

Carrageenan......
Rice........

Polly, I have recently started eating some rice; mostly in the form of tinkyada rice pasta; the reason I started was that my marathon training was extremely draining; I needed to eat all the time so to speak - decided to carb load with the rice pasta. It is perhaps time to wean off of it.

Also, you mentioned sugar somewhere -
I need to cut back on using maple syrup in my recovery/sports drinks; it had gotten to a point where I drank that mix every day; not just on Saturdays for my long runs. I will go back to doing it only for the long runs.

I am feeling a little better today - bloating is down; motility is up; I am still gassy and it smells like only gas from an MCer smells; you don't want to be close to me while I am having gas slippage.........

Love,
Karen

Hi Karen,

Glad you're feeling somewhat better.

Luckily, we don't get east wind in this part of the country very often.

It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.

moremuscle wrote: Today it finally dawned on me that I am having a reaction to something. It has been so long since I reacted that I had forgotten how it feels. I don't have diarrhea - Thank God - but I am extremely bloated and feel very uncomfortable; I lack appetite and I lack motivation/energy with respect to my running; I trot along like an old tired person - not anything like the bird with wings that I was when I ran a Marathon recently. It depresses me to feel like this - I know it is going to be over soon but I can't get it over with soon enough

Trouble is I don't know what I am reacting to. It seems I am doing the same old thing with my food. I suspect it is some Sushie I had at a restaurant 4-5 days ago.
I bought my husband a sushi rolling kit since I prefer not to go to sushi bars any longer. Anyway, noticed that the crab packages he uses have wheat starch listed as one of the ingredients.
Wheat

There are a couple ingredients present in some of our sushi which contain wheat. Soy sauce contains wheat and is present in the ungai roll, tsunami roll, mt. fuji roll, and futomaki roll. Wheat starch is also contained in the unagi roll, shrimp salad roll, California salad roll, and California roll with surimi.
This company is noted for their frozen sushi but I suspect in general the fresh sushi bars contain similar ingredients so you may have had a reaction to gluten.

Glad your reaction was short lived Karen.
