I have a hunch that this is going to turn out a lot better than you expect. I'll bet that those plans that you were told about, are not exactly chiseled in stone. It's still a long time until the end of the school term, and a lot can happen in that time.
Thanks Tex...you are right, but now I will never be able to trust them again. A friend found a job listing that was just posted today....OMG I want this job. It is for Art Department Chair, teaching K-12 art...in...are you ready for this....at a private school in Vail, Colorado....I wouldn't mind moving to Colorado!!! They have Ski Fridays during the winter....everyone in the school takes off and goes skiing for half the day!!!!!!!!!!! I am for sure applying....bet thousands of others will be applying too!
It was so cute...tonight, one of my International students arrived home with 3 Krispy Creme doughnuts...she had heated them up in the microwave for me. She said sugar helps people when they're sad....is that cute or what. Between her and my therapist...I had more than my share of sugar today! Well...nite nite....I have ski school tomorrow...my tail bone is still sore, but my knee is better. JJ
Go for it! True, there will probably be a lot of applicants, but most of them almost surely won't be anywhere near as qualified for the position as you are. You have a lot of professional experience, whereas most of the applicants will probably just be wannabes.
Hey, that girl is almost as good as your therapist, and I'll bet her billing rates are a lot lower, too. LOL.

P S I'm with you on the "trust" issue. Obviously, (as Polly pointed out), the school has a pretty cavalier attitude about loyalty, and long-term relationships.
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
I'm crossing everything that can be crossed for the Vail job. It sounds like it will be perfect for you.
My personal philosophy on life is that everything happens for a reason in it's own time. It's just mucking through the middle to get to the end results that are tough. This too shall pass and you will end up in a much better place.
Hi...you guys are the best...I will need some pep talks in the coming days. I AM my own worst enemy when it comes to self doubt and negative thinking. I am going to make a list of things I need to do to apply for the job in Colorado. I can apply on line through the National Association of Independent schools, but may write to them personally. I sent my resume to a local CC and it didn't go through. Somehow, I trust snail mail more. What do you think??? I also need to locate a Career Counselor and make an appointment....at least I re-did my resume last spring...they can help me fine-tune it. TTFN...JJ
I would apply on line, send a personal letter, AND make a phone call to the appropriate person/people. Toot your horn - tell them about how well your program is thought of in the community, how you take in foreign students, how skiing is your second passion after art, how you are absolutely the best person for this job. Go overboard on the enthusiam - it can't hurt. And I know you don't have to fake it - this really does sound like your dream job. I hope you can count on a stellar recommendation from your current school - they owe you that big time, IMHO. Can you get letters from the community too? And from the ski school? Just keep thinking positively........"This is the job for me and I am the best candidate".

Thanks Polly...you are right...I should go after this one from all angles. The Ski School Director will write a letter...I have been involved with the ski school for 29 years....yikes! I can also ask the General Manager of the ski area to write a letter, but that may be going over board...he has known me forever too. Both know my work with kids and my love of skiing. Thanks for the idea about the community too...that opens up some other options as well. Ok here goes...my new mantra is: "I am worthy, I am worthy...."
