Kait's Update!!!!

Post by barbaranoela »

1. Kait will enter hospital, next week, for 3 days---which is where they will start to detox her from the opiates that seem to be her ongoing pain----
2. they will start by lessening the dosage of opiates---and if by the end of the 3rd day---she is comfortable---they will start her on a lesser pain killer
3. appears that *H*---after 5 years---grrrrrrrr---THOUGHT that she SHOULDNT have been on all those meds.(given by pain management and KNOWN to *H*)----DUH!!!!!

Anyway--Kait has had a few episodes(while home) due to the fill in pharmacist--NOT watching the RED FLAG come up on Kait's chart--when refilling a NEW medication---which interfered with another meds---which sent Kait into OBLIVION---and I mean OUT~~~~
Thankfully Lynn got home from work--found her on the bed---got her up and starting walking her up and down---
Asking me---I would have called 911~~~~

Lynn went down to the pharmacy---seeing the regular *P*--who knows every inch of Kait's issues---and he was Horrified @ what happened and this fill in pharmacist--is in deep shi*!!!

So---- :hissyfit:  and :banned:
The tension in AZ. is enuf to cause another snow storm~~~~

Thats it----I guess *thats it* is enuf---

Hi Barbara,

All I can do is shake my head when I read stuff like that. The world has a lot of incompetent people doesn't it. If it weren't for a few shining stars, (like Kait's regular pharmacist), life would really be miserable for most of us.

I hope that slip-up didn't cause any permanent problems.

Well, I am glad she is going to be monitored closely for at least 3 days while she goes through this. What a tough road. Has her mood improved since finding out that the shunt is working well and they think the meds are causing a side effect of pain? I hope so...

Hang in there grams.

Barbara,
I will certainly be thinking of Kait and hoping for the best for her. I know it is awful for you being so far away but perhaps it's better that you aren't so very close to the situation. You and Lynn would probably be disagreeing a lot which adds stress and she does what she thinks is best anyway. I know it's very hard. I know how much you love Kait (Lynn too).
