What things/foods constipate you?
Ok, seems like and odd request given that some of us would rather have constipation than the D normally associated with MC.
But what foods or things constipate you?
I've heard mention of bananas and I think I know 1 possible reason why. But I won't spoil it until I hear some other things. Oh and by what things I'm talking about you specifically (for those with this problem) not things you've heard can constipate, but things that actually can cause it.
Thanks,
Mike

Ok, for those who are not constipated now, how about before the disease? Did you suffer from regular constipation before you had dirrhea?
Oh, and it appears that I'm not too far off, take a look at these studies:
Morphometric study of colonic biopsies: a new method of estimating inflammatory diseases.

Collagenous colitis associated with chronic constipation.

Microscopic colitis: a retrospective study of clinical presentation in 53 patients.

Collagenous colitis: constipation or diarrhoea?

Wow!!!! 1 reported that 56% of those with MC had constipation, another 50%, 50% again, 43%, and 25% (or 50% of atypical LC). Hmmm...
So many thoughts on this topic. For example, all this again points towards dysbiosis and that MC is a symptom not the problem, we see the same varations, I can see why everything that folks have tried had worked, or worked short term or not worked at all.
And finally how about this, given that I bet folks with constipation would rarely have a colonoscopy (anyone else think this) and that folks who have diarrhea would I assume be more likely to get one. It makes me wonder if the ratio is scewed even more towards it being more constipation than diarrhea.
Ok, this is getting very interesting.

good topic but not so funny when U R bound up!!!
As for me----NOW THAT U BROUGHT UP THIS SUBJECT----(and I never recalled) when I was a kid---I was bound up frequently!!!WOW---and there was my mom with the old enema bag hanging from the shower curtain rod giving me an enema!!!
But--older---my morning coffee always gave me a *boost* --
Now I just get constipated~~~~~a real pain in the *ars* too--
My GI---said that the blood pressure meds can be constipating too--
So that might be *why* for me now--

Never dealt with constipation . As a matter of fact I was always regular and went potty within a half hour upon getting up in the morning.. Of course, that was before the collagenous colitis took over!
Now!!! I tried Citracal about a month ago and holy smokes!!!!!! It definitely made it hard to go and gave me a hemmie that just wouldn't go back where he belonged!!!!!!!!

pain medication...big time. I was only on 1 pill per day...but thought I was giving birth yesterday morning. I always defined constipation as missing a few days but I hadn't....just hard marbles that formed a giant boulder. I had also cut back on the amount of fat I was eating to give my body a chance to adjust to not having a gallbladder. So I cut out the pain meds, decrease my meat, increase veggies and oil.

.
I was always regular, and ate everything (and proud of it). Even when I was pregnant, ate spicy food, chocolate, still don't know what heartburn feels like!. I began having a lot of gas, esp. with dairy and sugars. Then 15 years ago began alternating D and C. To provoke a movement I would take a T. of MOM at night with a glass of water. Then it progressed into chronic D.
If I take too much Caltrate I get constipated.
If I eat gluten, I'll get briefly constipated, then D. It's like the offending food burns or paralyzes the intestinal tract, then it over-reacts.
See ya, Marsha
