Needle biopsy
Hi Friends,
Went in for another mammogram...this one recommended by the surgeon..it is a digital one and basically came up with the same thing..there is something suspicious looking in one part of my breast where there are also calcium deposits. The only difference is that they think they could determine whether or not they are cancerous by doing a needle biopsy instead of a lumpectomy. The only problem is that I have to lie on my stomach for an hour to to have the procedure done...which would be fine but the gallbladder operation cracked one of my ribs. So the hour on the table sounds tough....let alone the needle. Has anyone had a needle core biopsy?? How much pain do I have to look forward too?
Love,
Cristi

I had one in my lung and one in my liver. Neither really hurt much. The radiologist was very good and used local anethestic. They warned the lung could hurt a little because there are nerves in the lung lining. Breast tissue might have more nerves, however, so it's hard to judge.
Good luck, I bet it's just something benign.

Hi Cristi!
I had a needle biopsy and even watched the radiologist put the little fish hook looking thing and the line that went with in, so the surgeon could see the exact area of the questionable spot. Did NOT feel a thing and I had nothing to numb my breast.
I didn't have to lie on my stomach when I had mine done. They did knock me out for the surgical biopsy, and I only had a little discomfort after. Not pain.
How the heck did they crack a rib during your gall bladder surgery????You poor thing... I sure hope that each new day gets better for you..
Love
