Question for Women (not to exclude the guys, but be warned)

Post by kate_ce1995 »

OMG, yesterday sucked! I had the worst day of my period EVER! I never had the trips to the potty with my MC like some of you, but yesterday I was there every 20 minutes for 4 hours! I am so tired today. I am guessing there is a small element of anemia today, but don't know for sure.

I guess thats my questions. Can one be anemic within 1 day, or is it just from the running and the father's day gathering that was going on simultaneously? Does a normal diet recharge the system enough that I shouldn't worry about it and just take it easy for a few days? I have stopped the hormone treatment that caused this, so hopefully it doesn't happen again, but that may cause my endometriosis to flare up  . UGH. I just want to go home and take a nap.

Hi, Katy,

That happened to me in Montana, though not the period. I don't know about anemia, you'd have to be losing blood for that to happen and you were. but having that many poops over such a short time will certainly start you on your way to dehydration. And the fatigue is enormous.

I spent the day sitting in Allen's recliner and he ran back and forth to the kitchen getting me ginger ale and crackers. And a banana.

Take it easy for a day and you will be all right, I betcha.

Love and :comfort:

Maybe you should see your Dr.

Katy:

If it continues, I'd suggest a trip to the Dr. Was the period really heavy? I went through that about 20 years ago and the Dr. discovered some benign polyps. I had a D&C and that fixed that!! No more problems.
Anyway, running the toilet that many times could tire anyone out. Time to rest and recoup.

Well, after 24 hours off from this little problem, here I sit at 11:20 at night with the same problem all over again.

I did see my doc in maybe March or April for an annual exam, and he thought it sounded like breakthrough bleeding caused by the fact I've been taking progesterone only hormones. I called the office today to see if there was a problem stopping the hormones, and he said no. I can't go through this over and over. Its been happening every 3 months or so, although this is the worst its ever been. But VERY heavy.

I guess I'm up until this round eases up. Yesterday it was about 4 hours. This started around 9, so maybe by 1 I can go get some sleep. Can't just lie in bed cause poor Geoff won't get any sleep.

Dang bodies...I want a new one.

Katy,

Are you better today? Be careful - very heavy bleeding CAN significantly deplete your blood supply. If that is happening, your heart rate will go up, you will get dizzy/lightheaded when you stand up quickly, and you will feel exhausted. Don't forget that you are losing water and salts with blood loss (just like with D), so pay close attention to your hydration/salts. Gatorade, anyone?

Morning Polly,

Yup, its still going. All night like this. I've got a call in to my doc, but he hasn't called back yet. I had twice in the night when I felt really lightheaded (actually once was this morning), but I think both times were at least semi related to getting up from a sound sleep and rushing to the bathroom. Had D this morning on top of it. That was the worst and I got really scared, called Geoff at work and then called my doc. If I don't hear from him in about 10 minutes I'll try his office because they should be open by now. I am pounding the gatorade. So far Geoff says I don't look pale or anything. Fortunately we have 2 cases of gatorade. He'll call me in an hour (half hour now) and can run home to take me to the doc if need be.

ARRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!

A double whammy. Now where did that &^*%$ diarrhea come from?

Sounds to me like a trip to the doc is in order. Keep us posted. I am worried about you.

Doc just called back....of course he was in surgery when I tried calling earlier. He wants me to go in at 11 when he "should" be back at the office to get checked out and have a blood count done. He also said to take my naproxen because that might help control the bleeding a bit. Took one at bedtime last night and got no relief from the bleeding. I don't have a lot of pain.

Oh well. Geoff has his cell on, so I guess I'll make it until then.

Do you think the D was from the naproxen? We know how sensitive you are to NSAIDs. Was it a prescription or OTC naproxen?

Hang in there. Glad to hear your blood count will be checked.
