Update on Harry

Post by Carol Arnett »

Hello everyone,

Yesterday he seemed to be doing fine but our daughter went up there early this morning so she could catch the doc and get a few questions answered.....i.e.....why was a COPD patient on 5 liters oof oxygyn. She said with that much the recepters in the brain that tell the lungs to breathe will shut down if he is on that much too long. The doc said they will be weaning him off that much today. Yesterday the nurse said they would be doing that within a couple of hours.

The intake nurse had written that he was at 90% on room air. I told her that wasn`t right because I was in the room when she checked his level and it was 98%.

This morning he had a complication. Lori said when she arrived there his abdoman was very distended and hard. Shortly after he vomited and it was all bowel contents. Lori said they were going to insert a tube to take care of that and hopefully then they will start working again on their own.

I had a very sweet conversation with Barbara last night....she called....and at that time everything looked OK. Isn`t she the most thouughtful person?!!

After I talked with her I tried calling Harry 8 times with no answer so I called the nurses station, they went in to check him and said he was sleeping so soundly they couldn`t awaken him. They said it was the pain meds. Never the less it scared me. I didn`t call Lori because by that time I knew she was already asleep and going to get up early this morning. I paced and prayed half the night. Lori said the reason the phone didn`t awaken him is becaus the ringer on his phone was off.

Well, I guess I have gone on long enough. I had typed at least this much after I couldn`t reach Harry and must have hit a wrong key because I was typing away and looked up to check my spelling and the message had disappered and I was back to my desktop.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. Love, Carol

Hi Carol,

I'm hoping that the bumps along the road to recovery are getting to be less of a problem for Harry by now. We're all pulling for him, and hoping for better news, in your next update.

Jaco, a parrot in Salzburg, could not only speak but seemed to understand grammar. Whenever his person left, Jaco would say "God be with you." But when several people were departing, Jaco would change it to "God be with all of you."
