Hi all,
Dee sent me this excellent article on the risks of ingesting too much vitamin A. This study was done on men, but I see no reason why it wouldn't apply to women as well:

Excess Vitamin A Can Cause Loss Of Bone Density
It is suspected that some of the hardest material known to science can be found in the skulls of GI specialists who insist that diet has nothing to do with the treatment of microscopic colitis.
Good article. Thanks. It is especially revelant for us ladies here who are always worrying about our bones. Note it says the same thing as Mike's quote in the other thread - that vitamin A obtained from vegetables is perfectly safe. It is only a problem when obtained from liver, milk products, and supplements. So eat up those carrots and sweet potatoes without any fear!

Polly

Hi there.
Just had to respond to this when I saw the subject earlier.
Thanks to my endo who is a bone specialist, I learned that cod liver oil was too high in Vit A for my bones. Check the label and you'll see the no. of units of vit A per daily dose is higher than other fish oils, if I'm not mistaken.
As Polly has stated, food shouldn't give ya more than a healthy amount, eaten in a normal way.
Yours, Luce
