Not what I was hoping for...

Post by CAMary »

Got re-mammo-ed and spoke to the radiologist - he felt reasonably sure it is *nothing* but the images were not completely clear - so he couldn't be certain. Now I need to schedule a biopsy. The waiting continues...They told me not to panic - more than 80% of biopsies are normal, and in all likelihood, mine would be, as well. I finally told my mom - she is outraged they made me wait 3 weeks for a recheck! Once I get my doc to coordinate the order, I can go ahead and schedule it - hopefully by next week.

My gut is a churning mess. Trying not to panic - but knowing I have to wait more is taking its toll...

Thanks, guys!

Hi Mary,

I just went through this so I know the panicky feeling. I had my first needle biopsy and was more afraid of that than the possible bad news ( I am extremely needle phobic) Mine came back benign as I am sure yours will...and the vast majority of women they biopsy. The biopsy was stressful because of my phobia but not painful.
Good luck, Mary.

Hi Mary!
I went thru the waiting period too and kept telling myself that if they aren't suggesting anything immediate, then the radiologist knows it's
not something serious!!
My biopsy was not painful either.
Just keep telling yourself, I am calm, I am calm!!!
Wish I was there because I'd go with you!!

Love

Thinking of you Mary. I know it's very upsetting. I can't say that I've been through that particular thing but I just wanted you to know that I'm hoping for the best for you.

Well, I have a consult w/a surgeon tomorrow. Now that's the kind of johnny-on-the-spot service I like! My OB-GYN referred me, and said the surgeon would handle the biopsy and to call his office and they would take care of everything for me!

The receptionist was a wonderfully pleasant woman named Mary  and she said he was pretty fully-booked, but he is a wonderfully compassionate man, and would make time to see me ASAP, as he understands how hard it is to wait!

I went to their website to download the paperwork, so I can have it ready to go tomorrow. I also called radiology and arranged to pick up the films, as I need to bring them with me. I read up on his credentials - he is a general surgeon with two areas of experitse - breast surgery and colo-rectal  maybe I can get a twofer if my MC acts up

Now that we are *doing* something - I feel better - beats sitting around worrying/waiting.

Ciao!

AGREES with the NOT hanging and waiting---

I went thru this---got crazy when they said to wait so went right back MRI and said**** NOW**** and I got the nurse so scared  that they took me immediatley---results---NOTHING-

NOW---am going thru this again----had mammo in Nov...get results when I am here in AZ--get all records--go for digital mammo here--sees something----does scan but cant see the *something*---so as soon as I get home---in a few weeks--back to MRI--see GYN. and get smashed again----

I do believe it is a *density* area----maybe a cleanout--which I had before---

Good luck Mary---

Morning Mary,

I am glad to hear that he will see you quickly and you don't have to do the sit and fret thing. As most everyone has said, don't overthink it or worry too much since it seems most of us have gone through this and everything was just fine. Does seem they need to do a little more perfecting on the boob squisher since there are so many callbacks that result in nothing but women worrying themselves.

Good luck and Love, Maggie

Hi CA Mary,

I'm adding my good wishes to those above. I have never had a biopsy but have been called back for a repeat mammo - and that alone caused a lot of anxiety. Will be waiting on pins and needles keeping everything crossed until we hear the results. :xfingers: Good luck, my friend.

Love and a :bigbighug:

Hi Mary,

I'll just ditto what others have said - I've had two callbacks in the past 15 years. Some calcifications that they watch. It is scary at first, but then you realize that this is pretty "normal" in the boob business. You'll be fine, and better safe than sorry, as they say.

Love,
Alice
