Manzanillo, Mexico February 2007
Our first night in Manzanillo.
The block long pool with restaurants on either side and bars all around.
Our own waterslide park, which we pretty much got to ourselves on weekdays. At the top large iguanas watched us as we played.
The maids did wonderful things with our towels and left them on our loverly concrete bed.
Can't forget about the face cloth! It looks so much prettier with a flower.
The deck outside our one bedroom villa. Perfect for morning coffee and a good book.
An hour walk almost every night down the beach.
Those pelicans sure are great fishers, and a lot of fun to watch, too!
Do you think he posed for this shot? This was taken in the kids park at the resort.
The adult only pool called the Solarium. One night I went swimming in it...at midnight!
This beautiful guy was just hanging around at a restaurant in Barra de Navidad. We took a day trip there in hopes of seeing some good friends, but plans didn't work out. We have vacationed there three times in past years.
This gorgeous senorita greeted us at dinner on Mexican theme night.
Egret playing in the waves.
We took a day trip with another couple to a turtle sancuary and this colourful fellow was just hanging around out front.
There were turtles of all sizes, including eggs.
His bite was worse than his growl!
Valentine's day dinner. Can't beat the view from the cliffside restaurant. I had prawns in mango sauce...they were to die for!
Having fun in the nightly disco aptly named the "Happy Hut".
(see I did have drinks for ya'all)
Iguanas (there is one almost at the top) hanging in trees outside our room.
On another day trip that we took to La Manzanilla (about an hour and a half from where we were staying) we visited a co-worker of mine who built (is building) his retirement home with his wife there. This tiny 14 or 15 foot creature lives with many of his buddies about three blocks away from their house.
A couple of shots of the fabulous retirement home. The ceiling in the bedroom is the palapa and is really high. They have a fully self-contained suite by the pool for family and guests. It's only about four blocks from the ocean and has the most spectacular views...from every level!
The last supper with new friends at the Italian restaurant.
Bye Manzanillo, we'll miss you and think of you fondly!
