Matthew...I had a friend call me yesterday and tell me that there was just a big article in the Post about celiac, gluten sensitivity, etc. It included a section on local restaurants that provide gluten free menus or items. There is even a gluten free Gastronomy lecture series at the Phipps Mansion all this year.
I don't get the post during the week, so I looked it up online. www.denverpost.com and typed celiac in the search box. There are even a few recipes--I can't wait to try them.
Anyway, just thought you might like to peruse it if you haven't already seen it.
Matthew...did you see the article in the Post?

I had not seen the article. Thanks for the heads up. I get the Rocky Mountain News during the week and the Post on the weekends so it must have been during the week.
Tonight I am mired in a project that has to go out Saturday morning. Work seems to have expanded to more than fill the time allotted. I will post later when I have time about shopping gluten free in Denver.
Or at least my version of it.

I don’t know that I can be of much help in finding products for gluten free baking in Denver. A few months after receiving Dr. Fine’s test results I was so disheartened buy always coming home empty handed since it was so hard to find GF products without casein, soy, citric acid and free from hydrogenated oils.............etc. that I finally gave up. Don't get me wrong it was a good kind of giving up. A kind of giving up that frees one up to new ideas. I simply went to the local Safeway and bought all the vegetables I could tolerate, down the fish and meat isle, the spice and olive oil isle and a few eggs. Just eliminated the entire middle of the store where even if one might find a gluten free product it would soon change to not being so with no warning. Thus ended my search for GF products since an apple , a banana, a green bean, a clove of garlic a sweet potato...........and any other fresh product just has no possibility of contain gluten or any of the other things that don't work for me. I also discovered in those first months that I really did best eliminating all grains . That is about the time I found all the great people here who certainly vindicated what I had discovered with their research on the Paleo diet
I do 90 % of my shopping at Safeway or King Supers .
The Wild Oats at Washington and I 25 has shelf tags for many gluten free items. It is the only Wild Oats I have been to since it is in walking distance . I hope a store near you may be the same. Look for the fliers they have on Gluten free seminars, they do them frequently.
Vitamin Cottage has and an extensive hand out of all their Gluten Free products. Just ask for it . They also give Gluten free classes. If you don't see a poster just ask. I have never met an employe their that was not more than helpful.
Whole Foods prices are far to high for me to consistently buy from them so I just don’t go their. I really like Sunflower Market . They have a large selection of organic produce at very reasonable prices and sell Red Bird Chicken that has no additives for far less than Safeway. Be careful of the bins. They have no designated scoops and as far as I am concerned their is a lot of cross contamination.
Of course the Farmers markets are not far off. I really enjoy the small one On South Pearl Street . Particularly the Apples from Ela Family Farms in Hotchkiss www.elafamilyfarms.com

P.S. My arched doors are ready to go out Satruday . On to finishing six 40 inch by 80 inch tables for a Black Eyed Pea resturant somewhere in Texas.
Isn't life a wonder?
