I see by skimming the messages that you were due for dental surgery last week. Did you have it? How are you feeling?

Good grief! Has that date already passed. That never dawned on me when I talked with you yesterday. I apologize for my callousness - not even asking how you were doing.

You sounded good the phone, and I never realized that you were in pain. Please forgive me. You got to whap me up aside the head with a 2x4 once in a while, to get my attention.

I never was very good at remembering dates. <sigh>

I know you were contemplating a put off on the surgery. However, if you did I hope you are feeling better and it does not take forever to heal like mine is. They may have to go back in on the right side to redo the torte since it is really rubbing the plate.

Boy, it is impossible to slip anything by this group! Yup, I did have dental surgery on the 6th. I did lots of research and decided that I had the utmost faith in the dentist, so I decided to bite the bullet.

I was to have an implant in a space where a second tooth never came in. Well, as is usual with my mouth, there are always unexpected complications. When the dentist cut into the gum, he found a cyst in the space - it was probably the embryological remains of the missing 2nd tooth. Anyway, he felt that the implant would be compromised for lack of enough supportive bone around it. So, he removed the cyst and did the bone grafting procedure in that area, adding my own platelets to those bone "ashes" grannyh talked about. He also performed the "sinus lift" so at least that is out of the way. I am to return in 4 mos. to have the implant done - when I have developed good bone in that area.

All in all, I did fine. I was in the chair for 2 hours, and my face looks like someone slugged me. The biggest problem has been the medications. The dexamethasone (steroid) dosepack has had me WIRED. No kidding - I have been going on about 3-4 hours sleep a night. I fall asleep and then get up from about 1-4 or 5 PM every night and play around on the internet. I have taken the last pill, so I am hoping to get some much-needed sleep soon. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. I did OK with the Z-Pack (azithromycin) - so far at least. At least BMs have been OK through this. Haven't had much pain until last night - day 6 of all things. I wonder if the stitches are pulling? Anyway, I took care of it with an Aleve and some wine!

I'm glad you are healing and not in too much pain!!! I see another periodontist soon to see what my options are.

I hate dental problems. I sure hope your procedure is successful!!!

Boy, Am I GLAD that it has not been too bad so far, Polly. I see you didn't say too much about the sinus lift though............

Hope the pain doesn't return. Strange it should get worse on day 6. What did your Dr. say about pain. Was that to be expected? Do you plan to let him know?

I'm sure you are more than capable of determining if he needs to be contacted. Sorry.

Sounds like the worst is behind you. The implant should be much short appointments anyway.

I always get more pain at that "almost" healed point in the recovery process regardless of the thing being recovered from. Almost like it starts feeling better so you over do it. Wonder if you started chewing more on that side again or something.

I had no idea - I am so sorry. Dentists are the only ones I rather prefer not to visit...

I am glat that it went out well and hope you are not having much pain.

Hope you have been able to have some deserved sleep by now
