Job search...skiing?

Post by JJ »

OK...I need some help from my friends on the East Coast. I am sending off letters to apply for jobs and want to know if there is skiing anywhere near these cities. I wouldn't let it stop me from taking a job, but it would be a nice bonus..hahaha. So, I am sending letters to schools in Merion, PA, and Princton, NJ. and maybe one in Windsor, CT.

I still haven't heard from the school in Vail, but am also sending a letter to apply for a job in Telluride, CO.

Nite nite...JJ

Jill,

I can't answer about the PA ones, but as for Windsor CT, you would be about 1 hour drive to Mt. Snow (in VT), about 1.5-2 hours to Okemo (VT), and then many many more north of that in VT/NH. Windsor is right along I-91 which makes it an easy drive to most of the VT ski areas. Also there is Jimminy Peak and one other which I'm blanking on right now, in Berkshire County of Massachusetts (probably an hour drive or so). Oh yeah, and Stratton is a big southern VT mountain too. Bromley is reasonably close but a much smaller mountain.

Morning Jill,

Merion would be 1 hour from Blue Mountain Ski Resort (small hills I hear) and about 2 to 2 1/2 from the Pocono Mountains. Lots of sking there.

I am not a skier but that the info on PA.

Love, Maggie

Morning Jill,

Merion is a lovely old blue blood area and my boss lives in Gladwyne next door to it. Nice old homes, real nice old money and a lot of lovely private schools for the blue-blood kids. This area is known as the main line. I worked next store to Merion a few years back. About 20 miles from me.

Will post a link for you. Not to be nosey but what school is is? I may be able to give you some insight on the school.

Would love having you live that close!

Love, Maggie

Hi Jill,

Failed to tell you that Merion is either Upper Merion or Lower Merion. I am so used to the two I just call them Merion.

Here is a link to both of them.

Hope this helps, Love, Maggie

Jill,

The Episcopal Academy is a wonderful school and you would love it in PA. Not quite ski land but culture and museums we really do have as well as great restaurants, shopping, etc.

Would love to have you nearby.

Love, Maggie

Jill. If you come to PA, you will be only a stone's throw from me, too. YAY!

There are quite a few ski resorts you can get to withinin a day from PA. Of course, the mountains wouldn't be quite what you are used to - AND we have more ice in the east. The New England ski resorts would probably be more your style - and they aren't too far away. I have skiied Killington and Sugarbush, and they are awesome. Also, Mont Tremblant in Montreal is great fun, with a European feel.

Good luck!

Love,

Polly
