Oy, what have I done???
Yesterday we found out that the original builders of this house 23 years ago left out an essential step when putting up the wall paper. They left out the sizing that is supposed to go between the dry wall and the paper to make it easier to take the paper off if and when you want to. I guess they thought they could save some $$$ that way. Senor Oscar has been laboring intensely for the past day and a half trying to get the ^%$%& stuff off. I told him he should just bring his wife and kids and move in. He is going to be at it a LOOOOOONG time.
I just got back from Home Depot where Dave (the contractor) and I bought a fortune's worth of towel racks and faucets and a bathtub fixture and a new medicine cabinet, and etc., etc., etc. This is indeed fun although Dave seems to think it is more like work. Odd.
Anway, the house is a mess and I am very happy.
Lots of love,
Sally

You gotta have that sizing or it can be a nightmare.......is he going to have to replace the dry wall? Sounds like our projects. We start out with a very simple, inexpensive project, something unexpected comes up and well, nothin' is ever easy!
It will be beeeeeautiful when its finished! I am sure the carpet is going, I know how you hate it in the bathroom!

Jill, I decided that I am too old to start moving and all that foolshiness. I should have made that decidion years ago.
Anyway, re: toliet on patio with plant
We had a windstorm last night and the whole thing blew over and I now have a toilet in a zillion pieces all over everywhere. The plant is fine. Why couldn't it have been the other way around????
No, we are not going to replace the drywall. We have found a way to remove the wall paper with LOTS of steam. It amounts to boiling the walls. It is a pain for poor Senor Oscar who is doing it. It's hot work. I keep taking him water to drink. And making him take breaks to walk aroune the garden and get some fresh air.
