Harry...Might be coming home today
Hi everyone,
Thank you all for your concerns.
Harry will be coming home today depending on his Coumaden level. They have been trying to get that just right for several days. It has been three weeks since his surgery but seems more like three months.
He is doing well but is very weak and sooo haggard looking. He has really been through a lot. There were a few times when the doctors didn`t think he would make it. More times when I didn`t think he would.
On Wed. they did an internal echocardiogram to check for blood clots and then shocked his heart back into the correct rhythm. He was in atrial fibrulation and his heart rate staying at 135 and sometimes more. At the same time he had an Ilius (sp) ....his bowels stopped working and at one point was so distended he looked like someone ready to deliver triplets or more. His BP was running 70/40 but that, too, has come back to normal since the shock.
He will have to have a nurse come to the house for a period of time checking his Coumaden levels. Don`t know what ellse he/she will be doing.
I am anxiously awaiting his call to tell me whether he will be coming home today or not.
Again, I truly appricate the concern prayers and love from all of you. I know it has been awhile since I posted but doing a 2 hour trip and sometimes staying at the hospital for as much as 10 hours and the emotional exhaustion just wouldn`t let me do it. Love you all, Carol

Oh Carol, what wonderful news! I'm sure that Harry will heal so much better/ faster just being home. I'll bet he can't wait! And you can stop making those exhausting trips and stay right at home. Thanks for the update, and best wishes for an easy recovery from this point on.
Love,
Polly

Hi Carol,
I echo Katy here. It is wonderful that Harry is on the mend and possibly coming home today, but you must take care of you too. If you don't keep up your strength, you won't be able to help out with Harry.
You both are in my prayers.
Love, Maggie

Hi Carol!
Finally, good news!! I have been worried about you both!!
Hopefully, Harry will recuperate better and faster being in his own home.
Glad to hear that a nurse will be coming in to check his coumadin levels.
I remember taking my Mother every week to get hers checked.
Hope that you have some help with his caretaking and can get a break to take a breather....
Love
Dee~~~~

Carol-
Good news! I'm sure he will feel better once he is home!! They put my dad on Coumadin after is heart attack and it takes awhile to get the levels just right. That will be good to have a nurse stop by the house and check on him - I suspect he will start feeling better once in familiar surroundings! Take care of yourself!
Love,
Mary

I'm glad to hear the good news, Carol! It's great to know that he can continue to recoup at home and you won't have to make those awful long trips you had to make all the time to the hospital.
