Question---on COLONOSCOPY!!!!

Hiya Sis,

Last but not least!

For both of my colonoscopies I did the Go-Lytely and drank no more than 1/3rd of the gallon. And both times I was totally cleaned out. Remember, they recommend that same gallon for a 115 pound lady (like us) as for a 300 pound man. A little overkill for us. This is one of my ongoing beefs with the adult medicine folks - prescribing the same dose regardless of weight. I think it's one of the reasons so many women (like you) have adverse reactions to medications. We are being overdosed, IMHO!

I'm with you 100% on that "beef". As you are aware, prescribing dosage by weight of the patient, is also another of the salient differences between veterinarians, and human doctors. One more reason why animals often get better medical treatment than people do. <sigh>

Don't forget..all human docs are not the same. Pediatricians prescribe meds exactly as vets do - based upon the weight of their patient that day! I guess that's why I'm so sensitive to this issue. LOL!
